Black & White 2 - $19.99

It's basically Sim-god. You play a floating hand that can move people around and do a few other miracles and such. You rule over a tiny village and can have enemy villages you must convert or destroy the villagers of. Their gods try and do the same to you. Your actual power is limited and a lot of stuff can only be done through your pet who is a giant monker, cow, lion, whatever else they have. It's a pretty nifty game, worth $20, but after a few weeks of the origional I never touched it again. If it had multiplayer in the origional, it was really weak, but I think it just didn't have it. Which was a big part of why I stopped playing. Single player strategy games are just dull. Either too easy or absurdly favoring the computer (Ie 500 zergling rush 2.3minutes into a game when playing sacrifice map of Starcraft vs all 5 comps.)

Judging from description they added a lot of Strategy wargame elements to it now. It'll either make it a lot more interesting or else make it so damn micromanaged (the origional required HUGE amounts of micromanagement to accomplish anything) it's impossible to play.

The game was waaaaaay too slow for me, no matter if you played it trying to use armies or influence.

the original was alright but this revision is much better than the first. i bought it when it came out but the problem then was a bug in the game that caused lag no matter the system you ran it on. i havent played it for a while and hopefully they patched it cuz it was rather unplayable with the bug. worth it for 20 bucks easy if you ask me.

$20 is about the right price for a new-ish Lionhead title. The first game was a bugful borefest, and this is a graphically updated 'more of the same.'

Get it only if you want to watch your X1800XT get a hernia.

Compusa starting Monday.

It may also be available online.

ROFL, I just got my wife the first version (at her request) for Christmas. She's playing it now. Looks pretty fun 🙂

The first one had multiplayer...atleast lan play

You could play team games and have 2 ppl control the pet/town to speed up things

We only played one game of this seeing how it took 4 us over 3 hours to play the game and no one even won...our opponents animal started suiciding because it wouldn't eat food and it took forever to take over the cpu towns.

so this is like a warcraft right?..........i dont like warcraft but i dont mind the style ......jsut not warcraft.

in the original one, there was a lot of stuff you can get away with. plant buildings inside mountains, spread aura of one town to cover whole map, make creature eat his own poo to survive. second one, animal is way smarter, going so far as to jump onto the other creature and start wailing fist sandwiches until its a bloody mess on the ground.

Even patched ... it needs some serious hardware to run smoothly. But at least it's playable now.

Can anyone tell me if this is in the CompUSA weekly circular? I attempted to take a printed copy of the website to WalMart to use my $20 giftcard I got for Christmas, but they wouldn't have it no matter that it said in-store pickup only on the print-out. I understand why they wouldn't take the print-out, though, so hopefully I can get my hands on a circular (although it's probably too late for me). I could always just go to CompUSA (which is a little out of the way), but I wanted to use my giftcard on this.

Just had to add, this game has been giving me all kinds of trouble since my kid bought it.
His system is a XP2500 Barton o/c'ed to 2.1g (3100) and 9800 pro but was crashing left and right. Put the game on my wife's Dell 4100 2.6ghz and 9800 np and it's running with no problems. They put a huge Intel logo on startup, wonder if that has anything to do with it. I just downloaded the 1.1 patch and so far, it seems stable. (I knew to run at lower settings, but was just frustrated with the crashes.)
