black suit with light yellow shirt and bluish striped tie

Why would you ever want to take a chance unless it's a company with a really loose corporate policy.

White or light blue shirt. No exceptions.

I dress conservative for interviews just to be safe. I guess it depends what kind of company you're interviewing with.

what he said. ALWAYS dress conservatively for the interview process. Wait until you get the job to start dressing like you have no taste in clothing...😛

My uncle, who is a corporate headhunter, once advised me thusly regarding the interview: "Dress like a banker."

If you can figure out what that means, then go ahead and do it.

While that might look nice depending on the occasion/combo it's really not interview wear. I've worn a pale green or a pale pink and a black tie for interviews (both of which I was accepted for the position) but that's as daring as I've ever been.

Exactly. Show up on the first day clean shaven, with short hair, and wearing nice clothes. Then let yourself go over a period of 3 months.
