Black suit, red shirt, and black tie with white stripes?

I'm horrible with colors and clothes. Can I wear a dark red shirt and black tie with a black suit? I know the tie and the shirt work well together and with black pants, but will the black, red, black of the suit, shirt, tie look weird?

how dark red are we talking?

i wouldn't wear a black tie. i'd actually try to go find a white shirt or a light blue shirt and get a new tie. i'm afraid you might stand out too much.

That's why I'm asking first...although I did win a best dressed thing with the red shirt black tie and black pants combo.

Here is a picture of my current options: DSC00269.JPG, the shirts that are pressed and the ties that I think go with them along with the suit jacket.

So go buy one! It takes, what 10 minutes?

There are few suits sharper than a dark suit, white shirt, bright tie. Your suit is more of a charcoal and for this a white shirt with an eye popping tie would be the shiznit.

Plus, this is a wedding. If you go in sharp as a tack, you will get laid and may even meet somebody special. Dress sharp, be sharp.

Good, nice.

Needs more pop. Go with the richer red tie, this is the 3rd tie laid on the blue shirt in your original picture. That tie doesn't snap out like it should. Contrast.

Again, a white shirt would be sweet.

Nah. Black suit, white shirt and bright tie (a power tie?) says nothing but middle management to me.

If the white striped shirt is a dress shirt, then I'd go with that and the blue diagonal striped tie.

The tie you like is the one I like to call "frat boy tie".

Meh, that says "he's upper management material. A real straight shooter. You gotta meet this guy."

you will be stared at all night, and the bride will be shooting daggers at you through her eyes. you don't go to a wedding to stand out. only the people getting married stand out that night.

yeah, you want to be plain
white/light shirt, plain solid dark tie , dark suit
that is "normal", let the bride be the star

Whenever I hear "needs more pop", I think of Ruby Rhod from 5th Element...
