Go for it.

Also shave your head and wear red contact lenses, and say, "I am Satan, Lord of the Damned. Your soul is mine to devour," every chance you get that wouldn't be too awkward.

I'd stick with white shirt and a blue tie or something like it.

Are you applying to be in Alkaline Trio? Just go with a basic blue shirt and a conservative tie... they say blue sends subconscious signals that you're trustworthy.

What job is this. A red tie is usually considered aggressive and a black dress shirt not professional enough. Stick with either white or earthtones for your shirt.

your louder clothing will make an impression. that won't necessarily be a bad thing.

It is if he looks like a pimp.

If you're interviewing (especially in IT), you should be wearing a suit, unless you're applying for a job in fast food service. Your dress is the first impression you give in an interview. If I were interviewing someone with a casual black shirt and red tie, I wouldn't consider him as a candidate.

It's not a "casual" black shirt. It's a long-sleeved black dress shirt.

How do you people take a crap with your asses puckered so tightly??

They have special toilets with tubes that you stick in your nether regions. It's probably why they're so irritable and humorless all the time.

Who said it was a casual black shirt? This was a long sleeved dress shirt, nothing flashy about it at all, just the same as a white or light blue shirt you would see a professional wear... just black. I also wore dress khaki pants and very nice shoes. I wasn't dressing up like some kind of freak trying to make a statement... the image in your head is all wrong.
