Black screen with x800 pro

I thought it was a driver related issue at first, but now I have no clue what it is. My computer is making a black screen when I do certain video overlay effects in games like Doom 3, Fear, GTA 3. Any ideas? I think I might have a dead pipeline or something, but I really don't want to buy a new card to fix this crap.
 
Did you make sure it was connected to the mobo completely and all cables are plugged in?
Latest drivers installed properly? Chipset drivers installed properly? Sufficient power?
 
I'm not sure how I would test for sufficient power. I'm sure my nforce stuff is done right. I'm not sure if it's connected properly. I'm sure the latest drivers are installed, the catalyst 5.13's. How do I make sure I get a clean install?
 
I just checked to see if it was plugged in all the way, it was. Still not working. The thing is, it used to display stuff fine until I changed drivers, now it has stayed messed up ever since. With the official ATI catalyst 5.9's it worked. I installed the 5.10's or 5.11's and it broke, and has been broken ever since. I've tried using the catalyst uninstaller to reinstall the 5.9's, but it does the same black screen error with them now, too. What the hell?
