black screen when I start my system

I get only a black screen when I start my system. It seems related to the memory. Out of the box the board would not recognize memory and I?ve struggled with getting it to work since receiving the board. I finally got a 512 MB stick to be recognized by clearing the CMOS. I ordered more memory from crucial. Their scanner identifies the board as an ASRock board. The board has SIS741GX-MN printed on it, and there's no indication that it is an ASRock board. However, when I run a Sandra scan it reports that it is an ASRock board as well. The geeks.com site identifies the board as SIS741GX-MN board manufactured by CelSky. So, I?m really confused and cannot get the board to function. Can you assist? Thanks in advance.
