Black screen of death

during ANY game my computer screen turns black and searches for audio then digital then audio then digital... The only way to solve it is to turn off my computer. This problem happens for lower end games like CS 1.6. I thought it might be heat so I removed a side of my computer and tried it, with no avail. The air coming out of the graphics cards fan is hot but my computer says the current temperature is 59C.

Any help at solving this would be great.

Update:
I just ran a prime95 cpu stress test, it passed.

I updated my drivers, I still have the problem.

did you uninstall the drivers before you reinstalled them?

Does this occur in DX and OGL games, or one of the other? Are you running with the Cat 6.9s?

yes I uninstalled.

I started having the problem with an old version of Omegas ATI drivers, then I updated to cat 6.9. none worked.

I dont know what dx games are
