Hello guys :)

So i tried to oc my 7950 dual-x to around 1150/1400 with vddc of 1200 and after some black ops 2 gaming as it reached 85c i stopped playing to downclock it as it was too high(light flickering was there). And when i closed the game whole computer shut down and then restarted to a black screen.

Now it doesn't even go after the windows screen. It works in safe mode and as a standard vga adapter but as soon as i install the drivers for it i can't get past after that windows screen. I tried my onboard hd4000 and it works fine with drivers. Did i damage the card or something else?
I have warranty for it so i'm trying to figure what is the problem so i can return it.

Also when that black screen occurs my keyboard doesn't light up like it always does..there is no sound coming from the windows start up.

I really need help :(

i5 3570k 3.4GHz(max temp 73c)
8gb ram 1333MHz
Thermaltake litepower 700w.

Use the AMD utility to uninstall the drivers. Now try to install the latest drivers and see if the issue persists.

I meant the 13.9 WHQL unless you need the frame pacing feature.

Just installed it and get same thing. After splash screen HDD stops loading and monitor shows no signal, also it shuts down by itself and restarts after 1 second. Works fine in safe mode Though.Does all that indicate a gpu problem or something else?

That doesn't sound good.Does it come with dual bios?

Yes it does. But i remember trying to switch it and saw no change. I have the sapphire 7950 dual-x edition. Maybe it corrupted something when it shut down?(possibly psu problem? It's max output is around 600w)

How old is the PSU? typically oc issues are fixed by down-clocking, do you have any spare card you can try?

Must be 3 years now. I used it on my gts 450 and 6870 with no issues. And with the 7950 until that oc. I have no spare card to try now but i will visit a guy who knows about that stuff and will try the card on his pc. So it could be the psu or the gpu right? No mobo, cpu, ram problems?

No if it was mobo, cpu(very rare) or ram it would be unstable even with the igp.

Alrighty then. I will check it tomorrow and test it on the other pc and if this is the problem i will rma it.Otherwise new psu. So not actually loading windows with it on and no signal could be gpu? I thought if it was gpu it would just load normally and have no display. I think it's more of a psu problem or something. Thanks alot for the help Jaydip! :)

You are welcome.Possibly but it is very difficult to say, a gpu error can manifest in many ways.In case of PSU it generally fails to start or just restarts on it's own.

If it was psu it shouldn't work without drivers though as they draw the same power with drivers which leads me to a gpu problem.(or so i think) But well i don't know what exactly is the problem. Will come back tomorrow when i get some more information about it and reply back =).

Once I had to reseat one of the two PCI_E connections that became loose from a water line hitting it.
