until most or parhaps all of them have been given a round-trip all-expanses-paid ticket to the moon!

a black freind of mine said that his people resent that only whites got to the moon. i found this suprising, but i guess i agree that is is not fair, if we got to go to the moon then so should they have got to go

some guy even wrote a pome about this, which i include a portian of below:

massah whip me with a flog,
and whitey's on the moon.
he feed my chilren to his dog,
and whitey's on the moon.
he bake my wife into a pie,
and whitey's on the moon.
yet still the rent is too d*** high,
cuz whitey's on the moon.

I don't want to be a dick... No actually, I guess I do, but you really need to stop that. Try reading some poetry, and work on your spelling before writing your own. The word choice is fuckin' terrible :^S

The poem (song) you quoted uses the moon as example to paint a picture. Gil Scott-Heron didn't want to go to the moon, and he didn't want the USA to send black people there. He was simply saying that while black people were struggling to survive with poverty & racism around them. White people had been to the moon. That song's about 36 years old. Whitey On The Moon's actually pretty deep, but everything The Last Poets did was like that.

Well I was hoping if OP's friend is serious Op could break down to him that the poem in question isn't saying black people resent that only white people went to the moon. It's showing resentment that with all the poverty in the US, ANYONE went to the moon. OP's friend sounds highly misguided to say the least. If people are going to fight for something they should at least have an understanding of what it is they're fighting for.
