Cool. It's not my idea of fun to crap on something that many people like. For those that have fun with it, more power to em. As far as console, there really aren't a lot of good alternatives for good FPS games. The single player modes in the COD series have always been entertaining if a bit short.

My main criticism of the series is their indisputable base of console development which has stalled the game as far as the PC variants are concerned. Tiny maps, low-res textures, and an almost insulting level of laziness when it comes to the ports we get. To add insult to injury, they drop off in popularity quickly on PC due to these very issues, so you get a lot more value playing on the console version where MW1, MW2, Blops1, MW3 all have tons of players at any given time. The graphics and gameplay quality are fine for a 2007-era game, but it's hard to swallow year after year of them on a basic 'installment/expansion' basis for the PC. It's much easier to understand on console, where the hardware basically gives them no choice, particularly if they want to stay at 60fps instead of 30. That part is also a bitter pill, the PC version looks no better than the console version other than resolution, but the X360 has something like an X1xxx gen ATI GPU, but gets better FPS than a 7870 @ 1080p? (from the benches using the 3960X @ 4.8) Ouch.

I hope that makes things more clear as far as my perspective. In the end all that matters is if people are happy with it, and feel they got their $'s worth. I still wouldn't recommend it on PC, but think it's fine for the PS3/X360, especially considering the huge community. You can probably almost always find one of your friends playing it, and it will be popular for years.

Cheers.

Dunno what you are smoking.. game runs great even on My Asus G75 laptop with everything maxed.. and according to the counter last night on the PC side there were close to 300k active users.. that is plenty..

and hell my PC versions of all the other COD games still have tons of people playing as well in MP..

You can have your console and the horrible control and graphics and fast scoping ( which we don't have on PC thank god)

Not sure where you are seeing 300k people online.

Likely the people who bought the game or playing single player.

With a max of 12-18 player depending on game type, the only destructible environments are a few panes of glass here and there, it really shouldn't need much CPU power.

Not to mention it's running on a 5 year old engine.

I would think this game would be harder on CPU's than GPU's. Poor multithreading means it's begging for faster 1 or 2 cores.

Yeah...even so I dunno. Seems off, but it is what it is.

Says the guy with a Halo avatar?? Controls on a console aren't that bad, but a mouse is superior. Still what was said is correct there are many more players on an Xbox 360 than PC for CoD.

For the record, runs great and runs like a game using that engine should are not the same thing.

I wish there was a way to turn off mouse acceleration in BOII. Never played with it, and its a huge learning curve for me now. My mouse sensitivity is set to 5.0 - 5.5, and even then my wrists feel like they're going to break off. I also noticed that everybody is silent. Makes me feel like I'm running around with one of the dog cones that keep them from biting themselves.

Maybe there's a cfg command or something. It's strange that it's forced on.

I also hate silent games. Feels like everyone is a robot.

The previous Black Ops game was the same way. You can barely hear enemy footsteps at all. Personally I don't care just changes the way the game is played a bit.

Is mouse acceleration that bad? Did cod black ops have it?

All previous versions had it, but you had the option of turning it off. Turning off vsync helped a little. 6.0 sensitivity seems to be my sweet spot.

The perk system seems to be diluted to hell as well. The gun mods are the most useful, but i imagine everybody is using dexterity and light foot. Makes it pointless.

Game looks great if it were 2007.
Opening sequence seemed like it could run on an iTouch

I actually really like it a lot. It's extremely demanding graphically though, but the graphics are pretty good.

i don't get how people say the graphics on the cod games are terrible. sure, it's not cutting edge but it's still damn good.

I've been playing BLOPS1 combat training a bit lately because Ive been in the mood for that type of gameplay without the morons online. Graphics are perfectly fine to me.

I just registered to say that don't use justcdkeys, i bought cod bo2 from them and the cdkey wasn't at all like they said. They said i had to change the language to english, the default was russian. No wonder they're selling it far cheaper than other cdkey sites.

I put a pp case and got the refund. Bought it from another site who weren't selling it for so cheap and saved a few bucks from the steam price. It worked like a charm, cdkey was in english and activated without any vpn.

The site i used is this http://dvt-cdkeys.com/Call-of-Duty-Black-Ops-2-Steam-Cdkey Its just a few bucks cheaper than steam price but is totally equal to buying from steam and i saved like 5 bucks from it so i am happy. Much better than getting a cheap one that is a lot of headache to use.

So stay away from them unless you're okay with all the hassle associated with using russian keys, the RU key actually is way cheaper than what justcdkey is offering so if you're gonna get a RU cd key, buy from another site cheaper than that.

Just so you know, it's not the site's fault this happened. See my other post in another thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/showpost.php?p=34318927&postcount=124

The Russian and Polish keys included english in their release, but Treyarch realized that US people were just buying the russian/polish keys because they were cheaper with the exchange rates. After they saw the US sales they were losing they patched the English out of the russian and polish versions. I had a backup so I was able to change my menus back to english but with the next patch it'll overwrite and I'll have to do it again. It's the risk you take buying keys meant for other areas, but in my case I didn't even realize it wasn't the full key and thought it was just on sale.

I bought a polish key and have completely reloaded steam and the game and it is a pain but can be done. For $20 difference at the time and my time involved I may not do it in the future though.

ps. I loved this game at first but seems to have evolved into a total cheat fest. Maybe I'm just getting tired, slow, and unmotivated about it but the pre-firing without UAV has become abundantly rampant.

Anyone try the DLC pack for PC, thoughts opinions?
