Black Mesa: Source!

If I knew they were actually releasing the mod instead of just a potential date or something, I'd go for it. I'll still download when it's out, the HL1 Source port was pathetic.

Something is better than nothing in my book. The likes have doubled since yesterday and I doubt it will take longer than 1 week to get 20,000 likes.

New media would be good I guess, but showing what?

We know what Source looks like, and the original Half-Life has probably been completed by most whom might still wait for it at least one - if not a hundred - time over the years. We all know what Half-Life is about and what happens in the game, unless of course some have forgotten about it over time. If they show something "new"... like... the camera moving around in corridors of known maps with a bunch of scientists kicking soda machines and complaining about their ridiculous ties I doubt it'll suffice.

But I guess that it'd be better than nothing. I'm not "waiting for it" anymore. I just want Episode Three, or Half-Life 3, whichever they decide to work on (if they ever do).

Half life came out my freshman year at college. I built a computer out of other peoples spare parts, so I could not play Halflife. I still have not played the game, because it is hard to play games with early 3D graphics, which is funny because even the worst 2D graphics look better than late 90s 3D graphics.

I had really wished for them to finish this project years ago, but they were never able to reign in the scope creep, and the lead went on to completely manipulate and use people to make another crappy game for him which he sold without compensating any of them. I have no faith that this mod will ever be released.

I have never played Half Life. I cannot sit around and do it. I kinda want this to come out just so I can play it and move onto HL2.

I guess it was easy for me since I played CS for so long but IMO try again. Its worth it especially to move onto HL2

It'll be fun to play through an updated HL1, but my god it's been so long. This project wasn't announced that long after HL2 came out. By the time they get it released, the Source engine is going to be outdated! That'll defeat the whole purpose.

Ha ha ha, lol!

They were promising it would be out soon in 2008 I think. So, I'll still say that I'll believe it when I see it. No facebook like from me I'm afraid.

I've never played and know nothing about the HL world. I just know people want a 3rd installment.
I read the article and this project is supposedly a remake of the first game using the same engine used in the 2004 sequel? So, at the original planned release date, it would have instantly looked 4 years dated?
And if released in 2012, it will look 8 years dated?

Even though I'm no HL guy, may I posit an optimistic possibility that the delay has been because the devs finally realized that modern technology exists and they could make it look awesome if they used a game engine worthy of 2012/13?

Seems like releasing a game in 2009 with 2004 tech would be embarrassing. Imagine if they did the same in 2012. It would look ancient by today's standards. Anyway, I'm rambling.

It's what happen when you get a bunch of gamers together, they get distracted playing games instead of actually doing what they promised to do. Plus they're not making money so there is no motivation to get off of their asses. Maybe if Valve could give them some endorsements or fundings?

Source Engine does not look bad at all compared to many modern games.

Well, source engine today vs. 2004 is different. Not a whole new engine of difference but they've been making improvements with each source engine game they've released.
