Wow, a pretty good price for a black component. Most places rip you off just because it's black. :( Too bad Newegg doesn't provide a picture for it.... ;)

Thats really cool!

I already have a beige lite-on drive and I love it.
I am building a new system using the black Evercase ECE4252, which is ultra cool!
Gonna have to sell the beige one though~ its 12x10x32.

Thanks!

If someone comes up with a photo of this drive, please post it. If it looks good, I may sell the Cendyne (same drive) and buy this one instead just because it's black and would look better in my black case.

<< It "Looks" just like this one - >>

I guess I should've been more clear. I'm trying to see if this is a black or a dark gray drive. My case is a dark gray (almost black) and I'd like to match the case. This drive pictured looks like the IBM black. A black, black with no gray in it.

Thanks again,

Sal

I ordered one of these from newegg. A local B&M computer shop wanted $129 plus tax for this drive, and since they'd have to order it, I will actually get it faster using newegg's express saver shipping... Faster and $40+ cheaper with newegg!

<< Why are there never deal like this for external CD-RW Drives? >>

Because the majority of cd burners that people buy are internal IDE drives. Many more made and lots more competition drive the prices down. It's like trying to find a deal on a SCSI drive. It aint gonna happen..

Not cr*pping on the thread but.....

It's has a black face, so? The odds that it'll match your case and other black-faced items is quite low. Sure it may be dark, or close, but match?......not likely

Easiest solution is to paint the componets to match your case.... of course, what shade of "black" is your case? hehehe.

Best of luck to those who try however!

Well, since my case is a Coolermaster 201, I'm not trying to match the case (which is brushed aluminum), but rather my black DVD drive. Since it is also a Lite-On drive (picked it up at newegg a few weeks back), I'm hoping that the bezels match.

I'd thought about trying to paint some beige drives black, but was never too thrilled with the idea.

Same here. I haven't seen one tech page done on painting drive bezels that looked worth a crap when they were done with it. The face usually looked fine, but you could see areas inside of the nooks and crannies, where it looked like crap. Not to mention, that you lose all of your silk screening from the drive and make it utterly impossible to resell your drive for any sort of money after you've destroyed the face plate. Not that used cd burners fetch much these days after they get to be about a year old...

Anyway...

Yep....pain ain't it.

That's why I picked up a Antec SX1040B.

The front 1/2 swings open to reveal the 5-1/4" and 3-1/2" bays.

I wouldn't call the case "black", but more of a really dark gray with a hint of green (prob just my eyes or lighting).

My $.02

The drive/black case matching problem is why I like this case so much from colorcase. It comes with a cd-bezel with a spring loaded door that gets pushed open by your drive when you press eject.

I'll still have to take on the challenge of matching black for my second optical drive though (dvd).

Souka.. What color drives do you have in your Antec case? That's the case that I'm thinking about getting, but even with the door, I'm still thinking about matching the drives. Sort of shows you how anal I am. ;)

BTW.. I see that Newegg now has a photo up of the actual black Liteon drive.

Linky

It does look to be the black, black instead of the grayish black.
