I just received both and they are great for $10. The Steelsounds are nice because you can take them apart and have volume control without using the extension cables. The only downside is they really lack bass. Very plasticky.

The Icemats have a lot more bass and are much more flexible than the Steelsounds. To use the mic or get volume control, you have to attach the extension cables. Good combination between plastic and metal.

If I had to pick one, I'd probably go with the Icemats.
 
Ordered my icemats last Thursday. They either havent shipped yet, or they havent sent me an email that they have. Does it take longer to get the item if you order through google checkout?
 
i orderd the icemats last week, havent come in yet but im sooo tempted to pick up those steal sounds and test which one i like better and resell the other, think all make anything? 9.99 is just soo cheap!

No. Go to www.buy.com and click on "sign in." Click on "order lookup", and then enter your buy.com order # (which should've been emailed to you by buy.com, not the google order #). There will be an option to print the buy.com reciept(which is the one required for the rebate).
 
I picked up the black version of the Icemat headsets and it arrived on Tuesday. Sound is excellent with good base and environmental isolation due to the large pads and snug fit around my ears. I have the mic clipped to the cord just below my neck and after tweaking microphone and ventrilo settings, worked fine. Great deal for ~$25 after the rebates.
 
I just got these icemats the other day. With my old headset, I couldn't hear myself through the speakers when I spoke. With these, I hear myself. Is their any way to adjust this? Thanks.

Open up your sound volume settings in windows. Is your line in not muted? It might also be called Mic, I can't remember. But, it sounds like it is unmuted, and that is why it's playing back.

I just ordered this set and found out above that new offer; would have added the TDK 100 DVD pack, argh. Still a great deal even at $30.
