Amamax

I have the silver one and it is great. Here's inside pics I posted over on Gideontech of my silver one: GideonTech

I paid $47 for the silver one... Didn't see the black ones for $21.

Tip: Pay the $3 extra for the shipping box. That way you get double boxed. But shipping is always free at Amamax, so it's up to you.

Why the heck is it so cheap? I mean even without a PSU, fans, and mobo, you would think it would be a little more than that.

It looks like it might be a nice little HTPC though. I'll have to go check Sudhian for more info. Thanks.

micro-ATX Power supply is $19 extra. front and rear case fans, if you need them, are $9 each extra.

EDIT: from the pics on gideontech, it looks to me like it takes a micro-atx power supply only. Check this pic

Yeah, the ad says it takes an ATX PSU, but the one that was included in my silver one was a mATX PSU.

You can find cheaper PSUs than the ones they're selling... ;)

And my Athlon 1.2 system in that case with an Aero 7 cooler is running at 100f with no fans while playing a DVD.

It looks like there are no vent holes on the sides, and no vent holes on the front. In my house, they call these ovens.

I guess that's why there are two fan mounts on the rear (one to blow in; one to blow out), blocked by a lot of sheet metal though.

Does this fit regular size pci cards, or do you have to use low-profile?

This seems like an interesting case. A couple of questions:
- If I want to sit the case sideways, do I need to buy special CD-ROM? Since the CDROM is sitting sideways (or vertical), how do I put CDs into the CD-ROM?

- I was thinking about puting an AMD XP2000+ in it, would the 230W power supply sufficient?

- How is the case? Is the metal thick? Any cutting edges?

- Would the case be thick enough that most CPU cooler/heat sink would fit?

- Any trouble in putting a mATX motherboard in it? Would the CDROM, Hard Drive on the way of any part of motherboard?

- I assume it can have 1 8cm front fan and 2 6cm rear fans?

- Does the 230W mATX power supply has enough power connectors for the CDROM, Floppy, Hard Drive and fans, or do you have to use any power splitters?

thanks,

Similar size case for $28 with 230W PSU:

linky to da geeks

But you get what you pay for.

Or maybe not. I feel like I got more than what I paid for with my latest case.

I recently purchased a nice looking chenbro PC8059 with a 200W Fortron PSU for $31 + shipping ($40 total):

linky

That link is good for picts. Best buy is from www.ewiz.com:

Chenbro at Ewiz linky

It's a great little case, acording to chenbro "thermally rated" for 3ghz P4.

PSU is a 200w fortron rock stable with my P4 2.6C Radeon 98000 etc.

PSU alone sells for $19 at newegg, so pretting good deal getting the case with the PSU for $31.

Full height PCI cards. Fits a MATX motherboard. Screwless/tooless case that folds together like a piece of orgami.

Anyone buying the Anamax case remember it needs a SFX PSU, your regular ATX PSU will no fit.

Most optical drives now can handle being loaded vertically. YMMV

My 2000+ with an AIW 8500 runs fine on a 200w PSU.

Edges are all rolled.

The optical drive DOES overhange the mobo a bit. Most HSF's are a non issue, but don't try with anything too outrageous... Aero7 cooler did not fit.

I think there are just 5 6cm fan locations. I didn't see any 8cm places. But I'm running with no extra fans right now and it's staying around 100deg farenheit.

The PSU mine came with just had 2 power taps, each with 2 full sized molexes and 1 floppy connector.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the answer.

Now the most important question of all, is it noisy? Since I planned to build one for HTPC, noise is a big issue for me.

Noisy? Depends how noisy your fans are. You could prolly stand to replace the fan in the PSU with a Panaflo.

And yes, 230W would be fine for a 2000+ I'm using it with a 2200+ without any trouble. Not this case, but mATX still.

However, the price ain't so warm when you add in the PSU price.

slightly off topic but which mATX board would be a good choice for this case. i was thinking of maybe building an HTPC for my bro as a housewarming gift. btw....these cases look nice

I bought from these guys before and I was very satisfied. I got an even better deal earlier it was for around the same price and i added the PS for 7 bucks more. In the end they mailed me an even better PS than I ordered and the case was really nice. Overall I had a good experience with these guys, and would recommend them highly.

I was trolling Newegg refurbs yesterday and they had a couple of minature Powmax cases with power supply for $21.75 with free shipping. Gone I'm sure by now.

It pays to troll through Newegg refurbs, as last week I snagged a brand new OEM Nvidia FX5600 video card, with all accessories, for $5 with free shipping. When I got the order and put it in my computer, I was amazed at the deal I got. This card sells for $176 on Pricewatch.

Sorry, thought I answered it... Full size PCI cards work fine. I have an AIW 8500DV in the AGP slot and it fits with no problem.
