Black Hawk Down vs. Behind Enemy Lines

My dad wants to watch both of these and the two closest theaters only play one or the other. Which do you recommend for my dad who likes a lot of action, and high-tech weaponry?

Edit: He also doesn't speak English well so which one is easier to keep up with?
 
From what I've heard, Black Hawk Down is the better overall movie, but Behind Enemy Lines probably has more action sequences (not to say that Black Hawk Down will be boring... from what I've seen in trailers it looks like the exact opposite). Either one would probably be fine,

behind enemy lines is pathetic compared to black hawk down 🙂

Black Hawk Down has PLENTY of action...PLENTY. Not to mention it being more realistic than Behind Enemy Lines. Beyond that, BHD has a story...BEL is just another action flick.

Behind Enemy Lines was perhaps the worst movie i had ever seen (with the exception of Nurse Betty, which has no relavance in this comparison whatsoever.)
I would not waste any money or time seeing behind enemy lines. i would go for the 'critically acclaimed' Black hawk down.
 
Just got back from watching Black Hawk Down and I give the movie two thumbs up and 5/5 stars .. go watch it!
 
Are you effin kiddin me? BEL is a freaking PG-13 action movie that you take the family to go see. Nothing is very realistc, and the plot kinda sucks.
And on the other hand, you have a rated-R action flick that has gotten great reviews, has 100 Rangers/Delta Force Soldiers fighting in a city full of armed people, that is extremely realistic, and isn't made for Mr & Mrs Smith and the friggin kids.

BHD, hands down.
 
BlackHawk Down makes Saving Private Ryan look like a kiddy movie. There was more blood and guts in that movie than in all seven of the Texas Chainsaw Massacres combined! People at my theatre were a little sick to the stomach after that one.

CNN has been showing the actual combat footage in a mini-program they aired today. Apparently the God's Eye-View in the movie is pretty accurate. The general watches the battle from the sky on a camera in the movie. In real life the picture was about the same quality. Amazing technology.

I hope you realize that every actor that "dies" in the movie is portraying a real person. The movie is set to as accurate timing as the survivors could recap in their debriefings, down to the beginning when bullets are kicking up dust all around them - and then they realize "someone is shooting at us!" In an interview on the CNN program the guy was like, look at those cool dust swirls... aww sh!t!

I read the book that was online also. Although this version I believe simplifies the reason the US was there and shows FAR FAR less civilian casualties than happened in real life (I mean big time), other than that the movie followed the book to a tee and picked out all of the key points. I cannot think of a movie that has been as close to the book ever.

I disagree that it makes saving ryan's privates look like a kiddy book. I'll never forget when the landing craft door opened in ryan and they were all shot to death. That movie was gruesome, but this is a good movie. I prefer ryan if only because the plot is a bit more substantial but nobody would ever call BHD a dissapointment if they had even the first clue about what the movie was trying to do.
 
black hawk down is probably the best war movie since saving private ryan. And i liked it alot more than SPR since it didn't bombared you with american propaganda (excessive flag waving etc ).

The HUMVEE gunners in BHD had a life expectancy much the same as the first man out of the shoot in SPR, would you not agree? I think that BHD is a pretty watered down version of what happened, and in many ways is just as flag waving as SPR. However, I would much rather see war movies like these, where the fighting is put in a negative spotlight, then most of the war movies in the post-WW2 era. Plain and simple, war is hell.

Yes I enjoyed the realism. My first impressions of the humvee gunners were that that is a truly crappy job. I'd like to see some sort of modified turret for those humvees with very thick bullet proof glass surrounding it and perhaps a mechanized way to turn the turret. Those guys sitting there with their backs to the buildings. Yuck.
 
BHD was the best Movie I have seen in over a year And I see plenty.

and after awhile I felt Like cheering when I saw Somalians getting gunned down. Is that Bad? Heck there were a few people in the theater cheering too.

And another thing... I like that there was no sugar coated love story like Pearl Harbor that Movie Sucked for about an hour and a half until the real action started. Ridley Scott's Movies Kick much Butt!

last thing... I am Glad Clinton is gone! Damn those guys over there had no chance in Hell! Hummers? WTF give them some darn Tanks and APCs already. After seeing that movie and watching the Discovery show about it I am amazed only 19 Died. And to think we might go back there to look for the terrorists...
 
BEHIND ENEMY LINES WAS ONE OF THE MOST BORING PILES OF SHIAT IVE EVER SEEN.

and what kind of theater is still showing it. Listen. If black hawk down consisted of just 1/2 hour of clips like it was a trailer or preview, i would recommend it over behind enemy lines
 
Behind Enemy Lines sucked, Blackhawk Down is Awesome...

And oLLie, are you nuts, Blackhawk Down is around 100 minutes of pure action. 😀

The only difference between a civilian and a combattant in Mogadishu was the distance they were from the nearest weapon. Plus, the "civilians" were being used as shields by the ones with guns. If the gunner was killed, another "civilian" would pick it up and continue. Such innocent "civilians".
