Black guys coming thru my window, what do I do?

OK, so I get a call from my roommate while Im at work today, apparently his dogs went haywire and he went to see what was up, because they always do it for some reason or another... and he went into my room to find a black guy climbing thru my window. He ran and hopped on his bike and got away, and I sure as hell won't leave my window open again, but he probably saw my computer setups and stereo, which probably means he'll be back. Any SERIOUS suggestions on what I should do to prevent this? I'm just renting a room, so putting in permanent window bars would be too expensive.

<Pre-emptive strike>

And the guy being black makes a difference?

Otherwise, move your stuff so it cannot be seen. Keep the window closed and locked.

Oh...and instead of calling the police and having them come out and file a report and dusting for prints, you should definitely post it in the Off-Topic area of a computer hardware forum.

Dark room + night vision + shotgun.

Wait until the bastard sets foot on the floor... use your imagination.

Some bastard breaks into my house, it's shoot first and ask questions later (assuming I know it is a break-in, that is).

Next time you see him suggest for him for him to come through the front door and invite him for a cup of coffee or tea. :)

If he was a black man in a wheelchair climbing through your window, would you have mentioned the wheelchair?

yes, I was quite conflicted about naming the thread, but I know that at least 99% of the people that saw that knew exactly what i was talking about from one fragment of a sentence, whereas "people coming thru my window" might have been more easily looked over
