I buy what I want when I want it.

Never cared to wait in line and be surrounded by smelly nerds and trailer trash to POSSIBLY save $100 on a bottom barrel TV.

That's what I've always done. If I need something, I'll look around thanksgiving time to possibly score it cheaper, but never in person. I do my looking online. They'd have to be giving away free houses or cars to get me to stand in line at night, or early in the morning.

I like a deal as much as the next guy but if I have to spend lot of my time to get it, then it's not worth it. Time is money. You only get so many hours in a life time after you take out work, sleep, and all the other stuff. Do you want to spend a chunk of it waiting at a store in a crowd of people?

I went out last year on Thanksgiving night, to see if I could get in on one of the deals. Showed up almost to the minute of when it went on sale. Sold out. Turned around and left. I've gone out a few times before, especially 10 years ago when the deals were really good. I've never seen anywhere near the size of crowd as I did last year.

Black Friday sucks. I feel bad for every person who has to work on Black Friday. It's a tradition that can't die soon enough, as far as I'm concerned. I make it a point to avoid purchasing ANYTHING on black friday.

There have typically been good online deals around Black Friday, but if Black Friday as a consumer holiday goes away, oh well.

I love a deal, for anything that I can wait on, but why care about deals on random crap I don't need or want, or for which the deal isn't that strong? Wow, a slightly cheaper TV...that I don't need or want; or a slightly cheaper media streaming device...that I don't need or want (they're not that expensive when not on sale); or a much cheaper flash drive...that I don't need or want, and by the time I do, I'll want a faster one, anyway; etc..

A couple years ago I got 8GB of G.Skill Ripjaws for $29.99 shipped on Black Friday.

I think I ordered it mid-afternoon :D

That's as far as my Black Friday experience has gone. I am NOT getting up stupid early to stand in crowded lines for hours over something otherwise so trivial. My time is worth more than a couple bucks.

5-10 years ago it had some decent deals and that was worth getting up at 7 AM for. Stores just milk it now because they know people will show up in the "everything is on sale, I must grab all the shit I see" mindset. Cyber Monday has never been anything special and is just a media/retailer non-event. It also was the time to pick up cheap DVDs but now those prices can happen at any time.

Black Friday is dead because it's been bumped to Thursday night. Somebody need to upstage the whole thing by doing it on Wednesday now. Keep at it until it's lumped into Halloween.

I think you're on to something there. They can have "Black Eve" for adults to trick or treat at stores for coupons to get "Extreme Savings!" on Christmas consumer crap.

Rofl, look at the new TigerDirect promotion I got in the mail today:

Apparently Black Friday starts in September now...

Okay, they got me to laugh with that banner.

Yet there is no shortage of black people willing to turn the opening of Wal Marts on Black Friday into a deadly stampede.

That's a racist post regardless if you were trying to be funny or not.

And it was not funny in the least.
