Is Black Friday dying? More evidence is showing up indicating that the day after Thanksgiving is not the best day for finding deals. Some retail experts are even forecasting that Black Friday will disappear as an American consumer tradition.

maybe for black Friday B&M.

but I like black Friday online. order from the comfort of your own home. same pricing w/o the lines. sometimes even better pricing

It never lived for me. If it dies out, I'm sure people will find some other triviality to jump on.

Doesn't surprise me. Consumers are savvy these days and realize that BF deals are not what they used to be. If you take away the whole basis of BF (the best deals of the year) then what do you expect is going to happen?

Used to be good back before it became so popular. Now the deals tend to be almost complete shit. I remember my first time, I scored so much stuff FAR from staples/office depot and tons of $5 dvds from Best Buy

I laugh at people who stand in line for hours at a store at the crack of dawn for a chance to buy one of three 50" TVs for $300.

Exactly. Why bother getting up at 3 AM or whatever just to stand in line for hours when you can get deals which are definitely as good or better online? Even Amazon's deals last year weren't exceptional, however -- I only scored a couple of small items.

Most of it is total crap anyway. Amazon lightning deals are fun and half off maglites at lowes but otherwise forget it.

I'd rather be up late then get up early, so that part just makes it better IMO.

Kinda sad if true. Can always count on a few people removing themselves from the gene pool on Black Friday.

I still like getting up at 5 and shopping. Its a great time to buy a bunch of cheap Blu Rays and knock out X-Mas shopping for family. Also I always end up with a few cheap pen drives that I give away the next year.

For some that is the only way they will ever own a 50" TV

I only went out on a Black Friday once, just to witness the depravity of people. I did it at a BrandsMart. There were no less than 10 officers on duty yet still people were fighting and yelling at each other.

Black Friday has always been shit. What will hopefully go extinct are consumers who will waste 12 hours of their time to save $50 on an X-Box.

Darn. I like any event that keeps the masses tied up in places I never go. Black Friday is a great day to go on a picnic or hike at popular destinations.

BF online only... shopping in PJs is the way to go. And even so I never get more than 1 or 2 small items. Last year was a 3TB drive for $100 which is now common.

Black Friday 2013 will consist of overstock junk the stores couldn't sell all year long. I have never seen a single item on sale during BF that would make me want to wait in the cold, on-line for hours and have to deal with the chaos to get it.

BF has always been geared towards the ignorant shopper and is about as exciting as a woot-off.

If we stopped giving each other stupid gifts Christmas, BF could die once and for all.

I love going out on Black Fridays. I use it as an excuse to buy whatever I want even if there are no deals. It is my one day a year I spend $2k-$4k on crap and don't care (I rarely buy stuff throughout the year).

Last year I bought 2 iPhone 5's (switched carriers), a MBA, iPad mini for the wife, 27" monitor (2560x1440), blu rays & dvd's and some other crap I can't remember. I think last years damage was $2500 or so.

I also like the lines, problems parking and hoping you can find a good place to eat that is open / available to seat you. It is a mini NY city around here.

I wish I was joking :(
