Black Friday: Anyone going to BestBuy in Maryland/NOVA?

Really wasn't sure where to post this, but I have to go to Staples on BF. I'll be grabbing one of the $400 Compaq laptops for a parent and they really don't wanna wait a few hours in the cold, so I offered =)

I was really hoping to grab the $479 Westinghouse HDTV from BB, but I doubt my chances are going to be too good after waiting at Staples and a 20 minute drive to BB. I was just hoping there was someone in the MD/NOVA area in a similar situation, but wanting something from Staples.

If so, shoot me a PM and we'll see if we can work something out. I'll be in the Frederick, MD area over the Thanksgiving holiday, and going to the Maryland/Wake Forest game on Saturday in College Park. I'm willing to travel a decent distance - just lmk.

Thanks =)

I'm in NOVA and I'm not leaving my house between BF and New Years...I remember last year a little too well. In fact, I better start stocking up for my "lost month"...

Mike - The BB lappy does have the dvd burner in addition to a slightly bigger drive, but I'm guessing it's going to have Intel vid, I'm personally a much bigger fan of the ATI 200M. I don't think I can stand another laptop with the Intel GMA :/

Dabuddha - I'll drop you a line as it gets a bit closer, feel free to do the same if you happen to figure out your travel arrangements and are willing ofc =)

Yeah, I've been up all night studying for an upcoming BIO test :/

My mom wouldn't have much use for the burner or the extra space either, but I've even seen laptops with an intel gma have issues drawing webpages, (even after a format/fresh install) let alone anything more complex. She'll most likely use it for web browsing, probably a movie now and then. I just really really abhor the intel gma from past experiences with it.

Aside from those issues, any other reason you prefer the HP? Anyone know if there are any particular quality issues with either brand since the merger?

Either one would be fine, the HP also has no rebates to deal with. Aside from that, my guess is you'd rather wait 5 hours or less over at staples rather then 10+ hours in line over at BB. Not that a blame you.

I didn't even remember that the PS3 was coming out BF till someone mentioned it today either - so you're def right about the lines, just pity the poor ppl lining up expecting to get one.

Up again for the evening people =)

The HP laptop at BB is better.

However the lines at Staples will be significantly shorter.

By 5AM I'm sure my local BB will have 500+ people in line. The first people get in line around 8PM Thanksgiving day.

The PS3 comes out this Friday, the 17th. A week before Black Friday. 🙂
