Black Friday 2010 predictions

JEDI

Lifer
It is now officially Autumn.

Which means Black Friday 2010 predictions!

What will be the hot items, and your price prediction?

I'll start:
32-inch LCD TVs will be $199!

It's 95 frickin' degrees outside, so I'm hoping for hot deals on AC units. 😛

Reputable-brand Blu Ray player for $50.

Black Friday deals will suck worse this year than last year

Black Friday was only great when it wasn't general knowedge. But, as usual, when it becomes an official commercialized event, it gets ruined. Last year's sales were some of the worst I've seen 🙁

There are only good deals during black friday when the economy is good. Black friday deals are loss leaders so the retailers count on other purchases to make up for the losses. With an expectation of low sales due to a poor economy, black friday deals will probably be meager.

1TB Hard drive < $45 - MicroCenter
Sony PS3 320GB + 3 games - $299 - Fry's
Apple iPAD (64GB, Wifi + 3G) - $750 - Apple Store (B&M only) first 50 customers/location.
HP Pavilion 15.6" Laptop - $ 499 9 (no rebate) - Office Depot
Magnavox Blu-ray player - $50 (limit 1) till 9 am. Target
Motorola Droid-X - $100 w/ a 2-year Verizon contract - Best Buy (coupon to be given at line - limited quantities/store)
Gas - Regular(87) - $2.50/gallon - limit 15 gallons to first 50 customers (BP - Black Friday only) per location.
Bulk Beef (alternator size) - $0.89/lb. - Walmart 😛

Every year black friday gets hyped up and every year people can't stop bitching about how crappy the deals are. There are always a few deals to be had and it was probably a little better years ago, but BF is never worth getting worked up about. I'll probably go to Fry's and pick up a few $10 blu rays at Best Buy and I'll be happy.

Staples had a bunch of decent cheap things. I happened to show up around 3 or 4 in the afternoon & they still had piles left & still honored the earlybird special prices. None of those deals were worth getting out of bed for, but I was happy.

2 years ago sucked, last year managed to exceed those standards to even new levels of suckage. this year should rate as another gold standard of craptastic.
