Sigh....you could not pay me enough to be a police officer today.
Or you know, one could just not be so trigger happy all the time? And police officers get paid very very well with 6 figure salaries in good districts.

That's your takeaway from this? That it's so hard to be a cop when you can't simply shoot and kill someone for turning on their vehicle?

Think humanity is your issue, not employment choices.

That's not his takeaway. He spent 6 months on the internet trying to find a black cop killing a white person. That's why it's titled as such. It makes him feel good to downplay the problems blacks face being abused by the criminal justice system.

Here's something that give him more thrills. It's not the first time. A black Somali cop accidently kill a white woman. That cop was sentenced to ultimately 5 years.

However, Kim Potter the white cop who accidently killed Duante Wright only got 2. Don't worry @13Gigatons white people still have an advantage in the CJS

Yeah, he kind of killed any plausible deniability with that thread title.

Small town officers and rural deputies might get $30K or so to start.
A quick google search tells me the median police salary is nearly $70k. That's considerably above the US median salary and doesn't factor in overtime and the generous benefits most police officers get.

Being a cop is a great job! It's one of those things where people used to privilege view equality as oppression. Police are used to being above the law and so they are freaking out about the idea they might have to follow the same rules as everyone else.

Officers here pull in 150K -250K, get awesome benefits and get to ignore most laws. We have super low crime rates.
I'd totally become a LEO.

$155, 693 after eleven and half (11.5) years of service. * (Note: Overtime is abundant so even noobs are pulling in big bucks)
Fifteen (15) paid vacation days first year of service, increasing to twenty-seven (27) days after five (5) years of service.
Thirteen (13) paid sick days. Unused sick days are cumulative. •
Up to three (3) paid personal days first year of service, increasing to five (5) days after three (3) years of service. •

Pension plan. Members are eligible for retirement after twenty (20) years of service at 50% of five (5) year final average salary. Vested retirement plan after ten (10) years.

So if you pull in 200K a year in you final 5 years due to the overtime gods.....

Yeah

It helps when you work in an area without a gun culture and with strict gun laws.
Imagine that.
Not too many people have guns. Not a lot of super religious people and an area that gets a lot immigrants.
Even the pockets of crime are pretty lightweight.

Precisely — incidents like this just indicate that police have general problems with excessive violence on top of habitual anti-Black racism. Well, that and a tendency to protect their own no matter how vile the actions might be.

The NYPD advertises that within 5 years you can pull a $90k salary before overtime and the officers here constantly complain that is woefully insufficient because they can get jobs on Long Island that pay far more.

Cops get paid really well and have near-total job security even in the case of egregious misconduct. I would personally be down to raise the salaries of cops even further, but only if that came with accountability and the ability to fire them at will for misconduct.

OP found the case to prove cops aren't only after persons of color. Congrats!

Then proceeds to whine that cops being fired and charged with manslaughter is bad.

So sad his legal murder fantasies may not always workout.

Sure, there might be departments that don't pay much, but that is not the norm, for example here's data for Carpentsville IL, a Chicago suburban town of 38K population. Plenty or rookie patrol officers making 70-90K for a sleepy town with little to no crime. Higher positions go into 6 figures.

I mean imagine if teachers were paid this much and had the ability to tell stupid anti-vax/anti-mask parents to go f'off.

Waits for that the victim is a fine upstanding citizen. And bet in the trial, the cops will be called trigger happy. They talked to him for 12 minutes!!!!!!
