Black CDROM Bezel Covers?

The beige CDRW and DVD from Lite-On jump out of black Sonata case every time I open the door. All the truly hot deals on replacement drives seem to be beige only, and I am NOT going to paint these puppies since, knowing my luck, I will find a way to get paint inside the mechanism.

Does anyone know good sources for bezel covers for both? The DVD drive has a curved on the slide-out drawer, just to make things a little more fun. Also, I want true black, and not just a dark charcoal color.

Sources, anyone?

Well, I know you don't want to paint them... but how about dyeing them? You just pull off the plastic pieces and put this dye on them that soaks into the plastic... no streaks, no runs, and no chipping paint.

OK, I still don't want to, but I will ask. How much trouble is it to pull off the plastic pieces? And is it spray or brush?

Not too much trouble, and I believe it's a spray that is more widely used.

OK, has anyone done a web page photo essay on the process? I know everything else is a web page.

I especially want to see how the plastic parts come off.

Never mind. A Google search for "paint CDROM bezel" turns up all sorts of hits, together with the advice that an auto parts store is the place to look for vinyl paint.

Google was not so directly helpful in finding replacement bezels, but one of the painting links I read led me to a company called Directron which offers an enormous variety of same, each with the warning "fits only xxx model drive." I even found one of my own drives there, but have decided on the vinyl dye route now that I know the covers come off.

I had to take each whole drive apart to get the drawer out, but it is all back together again and it all still works. It looks OK so long as I keep it out of direct sunlight. Let's just say I am glad I did not pay someone else to do this quality of work!

The spray can has never been my friend. Sadly, the part I did best is the 'inside' of the sliding drawer. The exterior paint job is not nearly so smooth. Oh well, it beats beige in my Sonata.
