Black Cat Chewing Gum

Rudee

Lifer
Myself and a couple of friends of mine were talking about the good old days, back in the mid 70's when there was so many cool candybars - stuff we can't find today. Candybars such as "Wig-Wag's" and my favorite chewing gum - Black Cat!

We all shared a fondness for Black Cat Chewing gum back in those days. Oddly enough, I haven't seen it since. (It's been about 25 yrs).

If anyone knows who made Black Cat chewing gum or if they still make it, or more importantly, where can I get it? - I'd appreciate it.

As I remember correctly, the gum would be quite popular around haloween. It was similar in shape to Double Bubble, although I believe it had a yellow and black wrapper with a Cat on a fence on the wrapper.

Does anybody remember this? Remember now, this is going back many years.

Regards,

I always thought Black Cat gum was chewing gum, and it was disgusting. I don't know maybe we aren't thinking about the same thing.

My favorite chewing gum was that Big League chewing gum that came in those little bag like packs. I used to chew (and then swallow) that stuff all the time. I think they still have it...hmm....

JoLLyRoGer,

Tab is still on the shelves.

Wasn't Black Cat gum made by the same people that made Beeman's?

I wanna know what happenned to my "Fantastic Four" bubble gum from when I was a kid. That stuff was the best...in a pouch like Big League Chew, but 4 different flavors. I remember the rock guy's flavor was watermelon, the Human Torch was orange...I think the stretchy guy's was fruit punch. I can't remember what the woman's flavor was.

I can't remember what the woman's flavor was.

I don't know what it tastes like, but I've heard it smells like fish.

<< Wasn't it called Black Jack? >>

Nope. There was both a Black Jack and Black cat. Both Licorish based though.

By the way, does anybody remember that gum with the liquid center that came out in the early 80's called "Freshin Up"? A similar gum called "Squirt" came out shortly after.

"Big Red" and "Stripe" (with the Zebra) were a couple of my other favorites. Sure wish I can find some Black Cat. 🙂
