Those of you have black cars and live in "sunny" states, is it really hot?

nope, its not too bad here in michigan. We usually have about 10-15 90+ degrees days, id say. The reason i will never buy another black car is that scratches and blemishes stick out.

I had a black 95 Monte Carlo, it looked VERY cool when I had it washed, but a day later, when the dust started getting on it, it sucks. All the little dirt and spots show up more than they would on a different color... But the heat isn't really an issue... Just the dirt really.

Love black and have owned 3 black cars BUT there's definitely lots of effort required to keep them clean. Being the lazy type, I go to a local brushless wash for about $8 which keeps it looking pretty sweet for 2 weeks assuming no rain and the occasional quick hosing-off of brake dust from the wheels. I've got some Zaino products on order which I'm told will help cut down on spotting and swirls, which can be a real pain. Overall, I'd say it's worth the effort and you can't find a classier color especially if you've got a German car. HOWEVER, I wanted a change on my most recent purchase. I seriously considered silver but it's far too commonplace around here where I live. Ultimately went with a compromise between the two--steel grey.

My family drives 1 black minivan, a black sedan and a dark forest green sedan. no complaints about it being hotter than other cars.
i didn't think it would make a difference on a black exterior as opposed to a black interior, but my friend also complained to me about hot much hotter her black car is compared to a white car.

i voted yes because i like the sleek look of a black car.
the only colors i like on a car are black, white and silver.

I drive a black Escort LX, and in a car that small that cools off quickly because Ford air conditioning works so good I doubt that the exterior car color matters. As far as maintainging it there is probably something to it because it probably does fade quicker.

I live in South Florida (Ft. Lauderdale) and go to school in North Florida. Black Cars seem to be just as damn hot as every other car down here (same as the silver one im driving now). Just tint the windows...

I have owned 2 black cars in a row now, and I will NEVER buy another one. As everyone else has said, nothing looks better when its clean, but if you let it slide a bit... even a LITTLE bit... it looks like crap.

I have owned three black cars and I never will again. Actually I still own two of them but I cannot change the color of my '66 Shelby GT350H (Black w/Gold stripes) and my '57 T-Bird is now the original Flame Red. I love the way a black car looks when it is clean but that is only for about 5 seconds after you wash it. Black cars get hot easily ande they make every little defect look like a dented fender. Try to avoid the "emotional" attachment one gets inside the showroom because that is the only place the car will ever look that good again.

The heat doesnt bother me, it's the dust that pisses me off. If I had a garage (I don't right now) I would buy another black vehicle.
