Black Antec SX1030B w/300W PS - $98 (warm??)

i actually got in on this deal a while ago (3-4 months ago). i can't remember if this is the same place, but it is the same price. this is an awesome case, comes with 2 fans (4-fan capability), and an easy latch-off side (screws not required). this is the cheapest i've seen them go for
 
i just wish it was white. i dont mind black, it is a nice change but everything i have has a white/tan face plate, so it would look very stupid. anyone has a black antec case but like white/tan faceplates on like their dvd drive and so forth, i would like to see a picture of how it would look like
 
*Warning* Directron.com does not ship this case with the original Antec 300W power supply. My friend bought 1 from them and they shipped with a cheap 300W power supply. He called and they told him that he had to select Antec 300W power supply when order (cost $10 more). Go to their site and see for yourself. But I got 1 from Provantage.com deal for $90 shipped and I am happy with it.
 
They had this case at Fry's for $84 a few weeks ago. It was the white/biege one. It is one AWESOME case... stuck in 2 more fans in additional to the ones that comes with it and that sucker is one efficient unit. Too bad it's hella loud (my CPU cooler has got 4 fans on it). My all SCSI system doesn't help. 🙁
 
damn why doesnt fry's expand to the eastern coast, like new york city, we buy a lot of stuff too you know

Great case! Just got mine last week from "EMS Computing" also, for around $102 shipped. I love it, lots of cooling, sliding periph. mounts, & room. Looks kewl too, but it is very large!😀
 
This is an amazing case. I've had it for some months now (got it when it was ~$95 shipped from onvia), and only have five VERY minor quams:

1. The black model is VERY easy to scratch. Anyone know of some good way to cover this up? The ride from college to home put some really nasty gashes on mine, not to mention the occasional scratches to and from lan parties.

2. No motherboard tray. Not a big issue, but still, it's sorta surprising for a high end case.

3. This is not a case you're gonna want to mod, which is not an issue for most people. While the handle on the side is EXTREEMLY convenient (can't stress that enough), it's sorta in a bad place if you want to put a window on it (or something more drastic, like I was planning . . .)

4. If you are going to be using those 5 1/4 slots, you need to install those guide rail things. I personally think they're annoying, but this was made for a file server, where they definitely have their uses.

5. Even though it has a face cover, the reset button is very deeply recessed, requiring a pen or such to hit it.

For ~$100 though, I would buy it again in a heartbeat.

1030 and 830 looks similar. May I take the face plate of the 1030 to change it to 830? I don't like the face plate of the 1030, but like its internal 4 3.5" bays.
A rumor says that sometimes you can get 4 internal 3.5 bays for sx830.
 
anyone who has this case has any other faults about this case, since i just bought one from egghead for 98 bucks, free shipping, YEAH!!! in 2 months i will pricematch with like whatever is the cheapest at that time, most likely like 80 bucks or lower in 2 months
 
You do get 4x3.5" internal bays, not counting the Floppy drive. sx1030 and 830 share the exact chassis, just the front plastic bezel being different. Just for the record, I HATE sx1030's door. 🙂

do you mean SX830 also come with 4 internal 3.5" bays? Are you sure? I like SX830, just have concern about the internal drives. Thx.
 
yeah the blue card, and they dont put the shipping into consideration, that is why you should get an item with free shipping and then price match it with a site that sells it really cheap but might have huge shipping charges
 
Of course I'm sure I have the SX830. 🙂

1030 and 830 share the same steel chassis. It has 3x3.5" in the HD cage, above that has floppy and another slot for a shared 3.4"/5.25" bay, besides the 3 5.25" bay on top. If you have the 1030 style bezel, I think you get the extra CDROM slot. In 830's case, it fits a HD just fine. maybe abit crampped for ventilation, since the big CDROM sits on top of it, but it's not bad. Besides you get to put a 80mm infront of the HD cage, acting like a nice HD vent. Not sure if it's the same with 1030, but it's mostly the caes.
 
i have the sx1030b 300w version, antec. i highly recommend it. theres no heat.. at all. and i run raid and everything. so its good.. i have 5 sunons in there. quiet ones of course.

i got it during onvia's resurrection [they offered free shipping for a while after the dark side conversion]
