I'm currently using Azureus and I'm getting pissed off because it slows my fvcking comp down.

I would like to know if anyone tried another torrent program such as Bitlord and if so, is it as fast as Azureus and low on system resources?

Searching the forums for bittorent will reveal many threads about this. I use BitComet and have no issues at all.

Yeah Azureus is a Java App which means it uses a lot more system resources than it needs to. What is it about Azureus that makes it so popular?

Linux runs Java very well.

I likes it's UI and features. Maybe that is why? The only thing that really does stop me from using it is the fact that it is java.

Did you install the latest JRE ?

Doing that fixed my friend's issue with it.

BitComet does everything Azureus does, only faster.

BitTornado works quite well, though it lacks a crash-proof resume download feature.

bittornado...and i've never had any trouble resuming d/l's with it, though i'm not sure what the poster a few up meant by his comments about fool proof resume

Another vote for bitcomet, doesn't take many resources at all and is a lot friendlier w/ firewalls than Azureus.

I switched from Azureus to BitComet :) Resource use of BitComet is just about negligible

I use gnome-bittorrent because I still havn't got around to reinstall the offical bittorrent client on my router.

What I normally do is put the offical bittorrent client on my router and have it scan a directory, then I just place torrents I want in that directory and check back in a day or so and the file I want should be in my downloads folder. I love network mount points :)

Another good up and comming bittorrent client is http://rufus.sourceforge.net/

Its based on G3 Torrent which was a very nice bittorent client that basically died in devlopment. I suggest you give it a look. It runs on linux and windows.

What are you talking about?

Edit: Oh did you mean the screenshots? Don't worry.. the actual program uses whatever system font you are using. Looks perfectly alright to me :)
