bitorrent

how does bitorrent limit your download based on your upload? is it done with your client, or with the senders clients, or what?

the reason i ask is most of the time i download at about 60K, which is what my upload is limited to via the client...but right now i'm pulling in 300K/sec...not that i'm complaining, but what gives?

basically i'm wondering why my download suddenly jumped...

and yes i know where this is...OT has a lot more people though...

also i was wondering if this happens to anyone else...

Its amazing isn't it.

i understand the basic concept of how bitorrent works...i want to know HOW it limits the download bandwidth...

btw i did a google search before i posted this...i cant find anything other than "you download is directly affected by your upload" that i get...but does my bt client do the limiting or is it other peoples, or the tracker, or what?

Use Azureus.

i've tried azureus...for some reason i can't get it to upload anything therefore my download blows...i've checked the port settings in the client and double checked the port forwarding in my router but it doesnt seem to do any good...i dunno what the problem is

it depends on what you have the ports set to in the client, mine is 6881-6889
