Bitfenix Recon fan controller

Anybody using one of these? I think they've been out for a month or so.

Being able to remotely control it seems to be their selling point.

Mine should be here tomorrow. Should look good with my Corsair 400r stock lighting.

Meh. I'd just get an NZXT Sentry Mesh, my experience with the touchscreen fan controller Aerocool Touch-1000 has been pretty bad. It's essentially a gimmick.

I can see remote control being remotely worth it for a HTPC but not a standard home PC that you have next to you on the table or under it.

Yea, I had read concerns about touch screen fan controllers in general.

Since my computer is on the other side of the room, I imagine I'll be using the remote/browser controls much more than the touch screen.

How often do you need to adjust fan RPM anyway? For me, the main function of a controller is to be able to connect more fans than otherwise possible, and downvolt them at a constant level I'm comfortable with. I don't see the need to be adjusting them after that, and if I did I would do it rarely enough that paying extra for a remote wouldn't be worth it

Ehh, I do see your point.

I look at it as an aesthetic upgrade that only cost $35. It will give me something to play with this weekend.

Not a bad price, only $10 more than the Sentry Mesh. Hope you like it, maybe post a mini-review once it arrives? 🙂

Yeah i bought one, got it in my FT02 controlling the 3 180mm fans and the top 120mm exhaust.

Its pretty sweet, the screen is responsive although the software was a bit of a bitch to set up correctly. I had to go into the real admin account and install it 😵 Theres instructions on their site. Once it works its good though, havent tried it on my phone yet, only the comp.

You can set any user account to administration account. Sounds like the previous poster had to log on as administrator in order to make the changes,etc. Looks like any else, regardless of administration status, won't work.

Yeah, i had to use an elevated command prompt and enable it then log on as "Administrator".

It could have been my router settings that caused it not to work the first time but i doubt this because the "Fan Controller Service" never actually showed up when i installed on my normal account which has admin privileges (or its supposed to anyways).

So basically i did this:

Then set up port forwarding in my router. Then it worked.
