Meh... I'll stick with a lot of the things I said back then. The Bitcoin exchanges back then were mostly crooked and unsafe, and almost nobody was using Bitcoin for anything legal back in 2013.

Spending my Bitcoin on an $50 Amazon gift card back in 2013 was probably a poor choice, though. :) I think that I converted my Litecoin to Bitcoin and bought a high-powered flashlight with it.... a $40,000 flashlight, apparently :)

I also still like using Litecoin more than Bitcoin, too. It's still slow, and the transaction fees still suck.

man, going thru this thread again from the start is quite the voyage. all btc threads need to have a script that displays the price of btc at time of each post, just for context and giggles.

i need to change my position from years ago: everyone should own a little btc as a hedge against usd inflation. but i can stick with my "no one should mine" statement, just buy it as straight speculation if only to simplify your tax obligations.

i was wondering why slush sent an email saying they were going to close my account for inactivity and all remaining btc rewards would be considered donations to server. i figured i only had maybe 0.1 btc in there. turns out i had 0.94 btc yet to be claimed. free $70 for me.

i kept some coins in my wallet so im really stuck trying to figure out whether to cash out if it hits $100/btc or do a staggered selloff.

that .94 remainder is worth $46,122.89 now. who knew procrastinating my selloff could pay out this well. i might even be able to buy a single rdna3 card with it next year if the pc parts shortage keeps going.

Thanks for this bump! This was interesting thread to read. I see pretty much the same people who are blind today were also blind back then too. This gives me some insight into who has vision and who walks around blind but love to shout their ignorance like they're the authority. No one can perfectly predict the future but being able to predict disruption requires open mind and the ability to see into the future. There are lot of blind as bat people here. So full of themselves and giddy at prospect of someone suffering. Karma gave them what they deserved. I like to think people like @Chiropteran are retired on remote beach drinking Pina colada and eating tacos while doing 2 chicks at the same time. Enjoying the good life for having the guts and putting up with all the shit everyone gave him here in this thread. Holy shit people are mean and myopic. Meanwhile, I hope people who were full of themselves like @LegendKiller are still tolling away at their shitty corporate slave job hating life.

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.

I always believed everyone gets 3 chances to become rich in life. If you can somehow get lucky and can capitalize on any of those chances, you can become rich. Bitcoin and cryptocurrency was one of those chances. All the people who posted in this thread had their chance at Bitcoin. So that's one chance gone for most since Bitcoin is so expensive now for most people. Doesn't mean people still can't make money but buy-in price is pretty steep.

lol @ the fools who bought at $36!

yeah, that's 36 dollars, not 36k.

Though today if you bought at $36k you'd be up 25% as of this post.
