Yeah most cases you can't install 2x120 rad up top with a) a modular PSU since it's cables stick too far out. b) an extended or elongated PSU.. thats why I chose seasonic 600 for this build..high power/small size and silent.

Well the Antec works fine up there, I'm just short about 1.5" to fit the second PSU :(

According to most dB readings I've seen it's much higher than comparable nVidia cards so either it spins up to full speed more than you'd admit or it's still loud even when it's at a lower gear. If even Rage3D commented that it's much louder than a 7800GTX it's almost certain to be the case.

and exhausts the air out of the case, where it should be.
That's fine but they should've put a larger and slower rotating fan on there like the GTX 512.

More than I care to admit? Calling me a liar? The fact is, it didnt spin up at all for me. I have a well thought out case, with great air flow, going the right direction. Not a dozen fans blowing in all directions, with a rats nest of cables. I didnt say the XT wasnt louder, just that I couldnt tell, or remember the difference. Also, most reviews do an "open case" review, which is having all the parts on top of a desk. Inside a PC, the sound difference is going to be less that if it was ear level and in the open.

And yes, they should do something to make it less noisy, one way or the other. Either by a large slower fan, or just a quieter fan. But not 100% like NV's solution, where it blows half of it back in the case.

My 1900XT runs at 81C under 100% load with the fan stepped to 36% from it's idle 51C / 27%.

I do hear the fan step up a bit with no audio running, I guess it's all in the ear of the beholder ... With audio running, I don't hear it at all.

Sure I can use ATITool to kick it to 100% RPM and it is louder then at 36% but apart from showing it is louder what exactly is the point?

I should note that my machine sits on the floor under my desk, not at ear level with the rear of the case pointed at me just cause I'm not an nVidia fanboy and don't need to invent something to complain about (rolling eyes).

Sure it would be great if ATI went with a bigger slower fan that pushed more air out the back of the case and didn't need to adjust the speed but they didn't.

Calling me a liar?
Are you calling multiple reviewers from multiple websites with accurate dB readings liars?

The fact is, it didnt spin up at all for me.
Great. Multiple reviewers with actual dB readings rather than subjective "it's quiet" disagree.

I have a well thought out case, with great air flow, going the right direction.
This is also likely true of some other people who complain about the card's noise. Why do you think third party coolers and water cooling are suggested so quickly?

Also, most reviews do an "open case" review, which is having all the parts on top of a desk.
Which in turn speaks volumes about how good nVidia's cooling solutions are, given they manage to stay quiet even on top of a desk.

But not 100% like NV's solution, where it blows half of it back in the case.
But ATi's solution makes far more noise than nVidia's, not less. Furthermore I haven't see any evidence to suggest 7800GTX cards cause either themselves or case components to overheat because they don't evict heat out of the case.

Have you ever stopped to think that maybe ATi have to evict the heat because their cards run so hot and would impact system stability if they didn't?

Joker, maybe, just maybe, you should stop starting threads. They end up being a screaming flamefest about your fanboism, and the fact that you couldn't keep your mouth shut if they pulled a Matrix on yer @ss.

The proper way to do this thread was to post the review and leave it at that, and then not start a stupid banter about shimmering or this or that. If BFG talks about noise, do you REALLY have to argue with him about it?

Resist the GD urge and shut your trap, and your threads will probably go 100 times better.

Ronin, maybe you ought to take your own advice. I don't see you helping any. And why wouldn't I mention the shimmering? It's there, the review mentions it and it was something I complained about more than a few times when I had a GTX.

Yes, that's the right answer. Resisting the urge again. I offer some friendly (albeit harsh) advice, and you completely ignored it.

That's ok, maturity comes eventually, and with that wisdom (which is simply learning from your experiences). Someday you'll get it. It's apparent it won't be anytime soon. Pity. I see you as being an intelligent forum member if you start pulling out all the bullsh!t, but I doubt by the time you get to that point in your life, we'll still be here posting.

Ah well, we'll live.

Mentioning that the card is noisy is one thing. Making a gross exaggeration by saying "it's a jet engine" is quite another. That's the kind of thing that starts a flamefest.

Tell me, really. How old are you? Do you still live at home? Were you home schooled? Did you simply not interact with people as a child? Do you have a car? A job? A credit card? A girlfriend?

Enlighten us. I'm truly curious to see how far off I am.

It was an exaggeration, and you damn well know it. It wasn't anything for Joker to get his panties in a ruffle about.

And no, what starts a flamefest is the simple inability for people to not take the bait (or just ignore the fact that it IS bait). It's grossly obvious that some people live for the debate/banter/argument or whatever else you want to call it.

Ronin, do you have 2" thick glasses and a big fro? Tell me the truth, Napoleon. BTW, I think you're just angry and lashing because I let everyone know about your CCC troll attempt. Shouldn't you be hard at work testing games for Sony? It's something every Harvard grad (cue british accent) aspires to do.

How true you are Ronin (in the second paragraph). But, you don't even take your advice... I mean, lets pretent Joker is baiting you... Well, it worked., didn't it? You let him get you! See what I mean? *shrug* maybe if we can't play nice, the mods will ban us all. That way we can all have some more free time.

Funny thing is the thread completely changed topics and then he had to come in again and flame. Ronin is a hypocrite and liar but that's nothing new.

And JUST for you, I bic my head. ;) I also have 3 earrings (for about 11 years now) and a tongue ring (almost 5 years now). And since I had proper corrective Lasik done, I haven't worn glasses (or contacts) since.

Anything else I can add for you?

Do you suffer from self esteem problems? Because frankly I don't care what you look like. The fact that you felt it necessary to respond to a sarcastic post says it all. So when are you going to take your own advice? Or do you just preach but not practice?
