Birthdays

a few days ago, a coworker asked me how old I was. I had to actually sit down and do the math because I think about my birthdays so little. they're just another day of the week for me.

I always go out of my way for the birthdays of my friends and family members, though, because it's important to them.

I never cared about xmas, valentines day, thanksgiving,... none of them

but birthdays were always a HUGE deal to me.

until the past few years.

VeggieFrog is in the UK, my family is spread out all over the country and my b/f has no imagination on how to make the day special.

So, it is all just another day. And coming soon, too.

🙂

Thanks for reminding me.

My birthday is actually in ~3 weeks, and this is the first time I've even thought about it.

To my sister it's a big deal and to me. I want her to enjoy her childhood as best as she can. I'd spoil her with nice gift each year.

For me, meh, didn't matter back then. Doesn't matter now. Won't matter in the future. I especially hate it when your work people ask you when's your b/day so they can plan a cake for those who have a b/day that month. And when you kindly decline to give them your date of birth the person in charge still come begging for it.

i prefer not to celebrate my birthday, but I usually make a big deal out of other peoples' bdays since they really seem to care...

I think the importance of the b-day really depends on how old you are.

But most of us are old enough that the years don't matter any more. 😉

There's nothing intrinsicly great about birthdays to me but they're a great reason/excuse to socialize. Other days always have some preciding reason, like weddings, graduations, or holidays. (all can be fun) B-days are different. If you're a kid you'll hopefully get gifts and cake. If you're more adult it's more about your choice of fun. (women, alcohol, and BBQ in my circle)
