my wife want's to buy me a birthday present. i'm thinkin win 2k. i have 3 pc's and xp requires a reg for each one. i'm constantly changing parts out so xp would be a pain in the b--t. can i run a 2k upgrade on all 3 systems for personal use? tia, jer

Practically - yes you can run the 2000 upgrade on as many machines as you like.
