Since you can't go see her yourself, definitely send flowers. Besides liking the flowers and the thought, she'll also love you for sending them because all the other girls will see them and compliment her on having such a thoughtful boyfriend. Girly-girls love to show off that kind of stuff.

My girlfriend's birthday is coming up and I have no idea what to get her. She'll be turning 19 and is a girly-girl. I'd like to spend about $70 on her present. We'll both be at our respective colleges, which are over 5 hours away. I was thinking of doing a surprise visit but the trip itself will be expensive (since I don't have a car) and she is coming to visit me the week beforehand (we're splitting travel costs), so I won't be giving the gift to her in person.

So, ATOT, what ideas do you have for me? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

A new box of Condoms!!
Thats a gift to protect the things you do together!!

Nothing. Celebrating a birthday is absolutely retarded. I buy my wife gifts when I want, not when the calander dictates.

for $70? ... a bottle of wine, a nice bouquet of flowers and spend the afternoon outdoors quiet somewhere.

They should know.

So consider taking her somewhere to do something actively fun together.
Sailing? Hot air balloon? Snowboarding? Horseback riding? Go-cart driving? Parasailing? Riding bikes through wine country & stopping off at all the tasting rooms?

Your $70 budget is too low for a 22 month girlfriend. I'd spend double or triple that just on dinner.

At your age & considering the GU situation with her, date some of the great local women. Better not hold tight to that one girlfriend, better if you mix around more.
geographically undesirable

She's got you trained, sucker.

Well it's a different "she" now, but maybe so, maybe so.

One of my problems is that I readily believe whatever any girl tells me. Even though I've learned that about myself, I still do it without thinking. So I get manipulated.

God gave woman the power to easily toy with men's minds. No fair!

Getting back to the OP, glad he got that handled, and within $70 too. He'd be better off demoting that girl down to "one of the girls he dates" instead of locking onto her as THE center of his life.

BAD IDEA!
Haven't you ever seen any episodes of Cheaters?

CALL her BEFORE you "pop-in".

I took my ex to the nearest big city about two hours away. We spent all day. We went to the zoo, art museum, car museum, gamer shop (didn't buy much), all kinds of stuff. Not only did we have a great time, but she told me it was the best day of her entire life. I think it may have cost something like $100? Maybe a bit more, I can't remember. It was doable for a poor kid.

Manicure/pedicure at a nice day spa. Thats's what I get my wife (who is a girly girl) when I run out of ideas and she loves it.

Dating at colleges 5 hours away from each other is not dating.

You guys are really wasting time more than anything...get out and mingle. I would recommend taking that money, buying some clothes, and going out a few times to some parties.
