I'm waiting for some company to get sue for that. Some in the line over hears the information and stalks/kills/scares the person giving the information to the clerk.

Radio Shack Canada has finally stopped asking for information for every little thing up. But I did tell one guy that I wasn't going to give him the information, but it put him in a loop. I started to walk away, but he finally just entered some random information I guess, so he could make the sale.

Most places just ask for your zip code. That's just so they can see if you are having to drive far to get to their store... they just want to know so they can build something closer... is that so horrible?

That's exactly what I tell the cashier. That I have no problem giving my zip code, or phone prefix, but there is no reason to give the whole number or address other than to use it to contact me.

Well that's what I wish I could say. In reality I am nice and tell them to put in whatever they want and that it is to verify they are over 18. I also tell them that maybe they will use it later if you need a password hint or something...

BTW, I didn't mean to call YOU a loser, I should have used quotes, loser is what I would say to them, not that I was calling you a loser bc of your point of view.

cool man, i agree

but i do sympathize with them, i'd rather just lie then give them a hard time. bitching to them doesn't solve anything.

Why not ask your supervisor if that is true, instead of saying "maybe..."? If it is true that it is used for security issues, then you should know that.

It is not at this time and I know that. They INSIST that I SHOULD KNOW other reasons that do not exist for why they would ask. So I tell them that maybe in the future they may use it for other reasons such as that.
