I do... I said I don't want a cake and they said no that I must get a cake and stop being anti-social. Couldn't get out of it. I'm not going to eat the cake so I see no point in it. Anything to get stop the work eh?

Lol

We have a cake, with a mini-party once per month to encompass all of the birthdays that occurred during the month. Too many people here to do an individual one for each of them.

My birthday is tomorrow... maybe I'll bring one into my Calc 3 exam. All for myself. ;)

birthdays end when you're 12 years old. I hate when people fail to understand this.

exception is 21 when you are going out and getting sloshed for the first time with your own ID

What about sweet sixteens? Those are pretty popular.

nope, just an annoucement over the PA, and even then it is very sporadic / random.

i think they did a PA call for my 30th but nothing since then. so maybe only the big ones.

usually the 3rd or 4th wednesday of every month is "birthday celebration" day where the fat bitches from HR pick some godawful desSert (often crappy marie calenders pies, occasionally barely acceptable generic ice cream) and everyone sings the birthday song which falls apart around the time where you're supposed to say a name because it's for a group of people and nobody knows what to say.

Oh and they give you coupons to see a free movie at an AMC theater, as long as the movie is at least 2 weekends old.. Which is fine if you're going to see a really popular, blockbuster type movie, but if you want to see something that maybe wasn't so successful they'll pull it out of the theaters right about the time it would've been eligible :(

edit: fixed spelling..

I'm sure you could email the lady and skip out. I don't like celebrating birthdays, period.

around here the birthday person gets a cake, a large sign in block text proclaiming "it is your birthday." and the choice of watching tv or taking a nap for an hour.

My birthday is December 23. Last year, it was just me and the Indians at work, so they took me out to Indian buffet, pretty sweet deal. This year at my new company, my office was pretty much empty, so I just took it easy and left when I had to take my friend to the airport and took care of some errands before my party that night.

Just make sure the cake to people ratio is optimal, don't want anybody to be left out on the cake.

Or they might burn down the building.
