Bird repellent - reflective tape

Does reflective tape things or hanging cd's work to scare birds away? I had to take down a nest the other day and want something to help repel birds.

Reflective tape just lets the birds see the windows so they don't crash into them.

Some people use fake owls.

My house came with a fake owl...the fucking birds ignore it...and eat all around it.
(It sits on the ground instead of being "on a perch," something I'll change once the weather gets nicer.

at one of my old apartments, I had a pigeon problem on my patio so I did the fake owl thing. It worked for a few days. After that, they pigeons were partying with the owl. I ended up using carpet tack strips to keep them from roosting on the ledge...

I've had good results using Bird-B-Gone. Just keep in mind a little bit goes a long way so don't over apply it or you will end up with a gooey mess.

Many market gardeners in our area use reflective tape.
In many areas the use of propane bird bangers are a zoning violation.
Netting is also used.
