Im bipolar and have beeen diagnosed about 2 years now. For some reason the medicine I have been taking has stopped working and the shrink has me starting something new. In the mean time I feel miserable. I dont want to get out of bed ,go any where , have no motivation to do anything even dont feeel like eating. My wife is going to take me to a support group on thursday but in the mean time she is not home. (out of town ) Im on eqeutro and lithium and klonapins. Can anyone recommend what I should do? Ive just been staring at the wall and clock watching all day.

kinda the problem raining and the first step of getting out of the house guess I have to start somewhere.

I would not recomend dating someone who is bipolar and will not take their meds this happen to me.

Go to the Mall walk around. Call an old buddy up and go play pool at a pool hall.

Honestly, jogging in the rain is one of the funnest things you can do.

Just run, run for miles, in the rain. Wear an old pair of shoes and some heavy clothing.

I jog, bike, and walk in the rain all the time.

As much as you don't want to, put on your favorite CD. Music does wonders. Or go for a walk. Never mind the weather, just involve yourself in some physical activity. It's proven to do wonders. Good luck, I hope you feel better soon.

Me too. I love it. Makes you feel so much better.

If you can possibly get motivated to do so, some exercise would do you good. Even if it's just cranking up the most adrenal music you have, and doing sets of stairs. Of course, getting the motivation is the hardest part, and I'm with you there. There've been days when I just couldn't even get out of bed, it's an ugly business.

change your diet

Usually that is a preventative measure, once the chemicals in the brain shift, changing your diet help only a little bit. But it is a good step.

Definitely go run, or mall walk, or do somethign that requires sweat.

Otherwise hang out with a friend somewhere other than home. You body and your mind will feel like you accomplished something and you will therefore feel refreshed.

well thanks peeeps, im gonna try and go to the mall and walk around a litttle bit . Get back with you later.

Go to a mall or gym. My wife was diagnosed with bipolar about 4 years ago. It took them about 2.5 years to get the meds and amounts right. We set up a 'hotline'of people who would call and motivate her until she got up and did something, even if it was just walking around the mall aimlessly. Try that, too. Sometimes they'll have to be cruel to get you going (I once told her her fat would envelop her bottom half and sex would be impossible without retractors if she didn't go to the gym), but it's better than the alternative.

Well, I PROMISE, you will feel better once you get out of the house. If I was wrong, come back and yell at me, but not until you get out and try first 😉

Be determined, get your keys, and GO! GO! GO!!!

Good luck with your illness.

do you have any friends or family that can take the inititive for you until you get your own back? medicines therapy etc....can help, it all boils down to your own volition to get better and to survive and make life enjoyable.
