Biostar TPower I45

Thanks for your response. I am building three units and going with the Asus P5Q deluxe after two of three P5Q Pro's turned out defective.

Just how were the two defective?

And just a cautionary FYI, 4 GB DIMMs will likely be a headache for early adopters, at least if you OC.

For stock operation, 4x2 GB or 4x4 GB, well, i'd imagine it'd be less headache, though i'd still expect some TBH.

I initially posted my issues on the PS section, as I thought my PS on one case was bad. However, here it is:

The only difference between the working unit and the dead ones was the ram. I used the Corsair 2 X 2 GB modules on the dead units - However even the fans would not come on. You will note in my original post (PS section) that I contacted Asus and they could not help. Then this past weekend, I packed the P5Q Pros away. However, prior to packing them away, I did some simple tests on the one that was working, but exhibiting some BIOS related glitches, perhaps not an issue as the board was brand new for me and I just needed to get used to it.

I swapped the Patriot modules that were on the working unit with the OCZ modules. The computer booted up fine. Then I swapped the OCZ with the Corsair modules and turned the power on. The fans came on, but no boot. Then I removed one Corsair module and tried to power on, same issue. Then I swapped the Corsair module in slot 1 with the second Corsair module - same issue, the fans came on but no boot.

I am getting the P5Q deluxe units today. Will provide an update. However, appears that the OCZ and Patriot memory is compatible with the P5Q Pro, but the Corsair did not work in a working unit. I have read some feedback posts at NE and a couple here that indicate that the Corsair memory is compatible with the P5Q deluxe.

Will provide an update on my experience with the P5Q Deluxe.

Set up all 3 P5Q Deluxe MBs up yesterday. All booted up fine with no issues. Once again, the Patriot and OCZ memory 2 X 2 GB memory modules (fixed links) work fine:

OCZ: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820227267

Patriot: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820220269

With two Corsair modules: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820145194,

I could not boot up (power on, fans spinning but no boot). I removed one from slot 3 and the computer booted up fine with no issues. I then replaced the one in slot 1 with the other module, and the computer would not boot up - again fans spinning etc. I tried the Corsair units on another (of 3 builds) with the same results. Is one of my memory modules bad? Are there any other checks I can do, or should I RMA with Corsair? I bought the kit from Fry's, but have sent in the rebate paperwork, hence the UPC label is no longer there etc.

However, the deluxe boards work fine. Cheers!

PS. Newegg has reduced the price (sale?) on the P5Q Pro MB to $120 with free shipping.

You will need some kick azz memory 1100 or higher to reach maximum FSB with this board, G-skill has some good priced stuff but hard to find right now cause of forum warz.
