Biostar tfiorce 6100-939 changing cpu multiplier in bios doesn't work

When I downgrade the 'hammer' in the bios there is no affect on the cpu clock speed per cpuz (and other tools) but if I use the t-force oc tool in windows the multiplier change does take affect.

Upgrading the bios didn't fix this.

Has anyone else experienced this? Am I doing something wrong?

Dear Google01103

No problems found based on our testing by using a Hammer core cpu. Make sure your CPUZ is the latest version, or try a different CPU, possible your cpu is locked.

You mis-read my comment/question, please let me be more precise..

When I said 'hammer' I was refering to the bios setting 'hammer fid control' in the overclocking bios page which you (Biostar) call the cpu multiplier.

My processor is an A64 3000+ not a Clawhammer

The tools I used to check the multiplier were all new as this is a newly built computer and they included: CystralCpuid, Cpuz, Sandra, ClockGen, CBID and RightMark - all of which were downloaded this week and all of which show that the cpu multiplier as being 9 (the default) not 6 as I set in the bios. They all show the correct htt (fsb) of 268.

To insure that they were displaying the correct multiplier I used the Sanda cpu arithmetic benchmark and compared it against prvious runs where the multiplier was 9. I then used CrystalCpuid to change the multiplier downward and reran the Sandra benchmarks. The benchmarks were considerably less, indicating the multiplier actually was changed downward. I also checked the various cpu information tools all of which show the drop in multiplier. This indicates that the cpu is definetly not locked.

Could you please revisit this,

Thanks,

PS - I am running the latest bios

mr-busta ur a godsend

thank you for that new bios, got me an extra 10mhz on the ht and i can run the htt multi at 3x now... tah the beauty of 300x3

Oh, still waiting on biostar to fix the cpu multiplier problem. I dont know if this is only my problem or a problem for everyone, but the cpu multiplier still has the same style of issue as the 4x htt lock... the "i set it to 8x but it wont stick" syndrome...

Awaiting the next bios update so I can clock the ht even higher and kill the cpu multip as much as possible :-D
