My main rig went down this morning, I tried to power it on and nothing. Lights come on cd rom comes on, no boot...video flashes on the monitor green blinking...swapped video cards, that didn't work, swapped cpu's...still no dice..bad cmos battery or maybe I need to reset the jumper? I need to try that...Any idea?
400W Antec PS
Biostar M7Mia-R
1.33 tbird
512DDR crucial
40gb maxtor hd 7200rpm.
antex sx1030

The only thing I've done recently is swap cpu's from my xp1700 to the 1.33tbird to test to make sure that it's good before I sell it.

RAM might need to be reseated as well.

That happened to me on my Epox board once. Even though they wouldn't go down any further, I took them out completly and reaseated them. I cleared the CMOS again while I was at it.

At first it did the same ting as your, but the above fixed it.

Well guys, I tried clearing the cmos, no go, tried replacing the cmos battery with my K7S5A server(which I know is a good battery), it didn't work, I left the biostar cmos battery in the K7 Board and it runs just fine. Only inserted one stick of crucial DDR, video card(put in a different GF3 this time) cpu and hsf and no boot..any other suggestions>?

Pull your RAM and video card OUT of the machine and fire it up. Do you hear any beeps?

I was hoping Jonny would see this thread;) I enjoyed your review on this mobo btw!
I tried taking out the videocard and the ram. NO BEEPS, switched the speaker connector around the other way
still no beeps. I swapped out the mobo's also and put the M7MIA in my server case, no change still no post.
What's funny though is for about an hour my ecs board started to do the SAME thing in my other case.
At that point I had two boards doing the same thing, I cleared the cmos on the ECS and it came back up.
Low cmos, etc..
still nothing on the M7MIA...I'm going to buy a new cmos battery saturday.
Any other ideas? I've got another case that's brand new that I might try to verify that the speaker is working.
Well I tried it in yet another case, this one an enlight brand new w/300 w PS and no dice on the beeps with video and ram removed.
So to recap that's 2 separate cases I've tried(other than the original), 1 400watt antec PS, 1 generic 300w, another enlight 300w and the generic 300w in my server case. 3 Different cpu's an 800 duron, a 1.33 tbird and a 1 ghz tbird, two sticks of ddr 2100, once crucial the other kingston.
All the same condition, power but no post or boot, but the fans turn on, cdrom drive works etc.
Hoping that the new cmos battery will clear this up.
Oh and a quick side note, I've currently got it sitting on just the removable mobo tray right now verifying that all standoffs are in alignment to note that I'm not having any shorts...GOD i hope that cmos battery does the trick! I"m running low on ideas since I've tried so much different hardware.

I'm now thinking the board's gone tits up.

I'd check to see what part was consistant between the Biostar and ECS though, when the screen was doing the green flashy thing. Was it the CPU? I've seen an M7MIA do this before and it was with a funct up Athlon CPU I was using. Swapped out the CPU and it was fine, but I suppose you can push one over the edge and fry a VR somewhere along the lines.

Don't waste your time with the CMOS battery anymore. A PC can run without one. All a CMOS battery does is stores YOUR settings when the PC is off. With no battery or a dead battery a board will still POST and boot, just at default BIOS settings each time.

The consistency between the two boards was actually the cmos battery. I left the opposite battery in each board until I attempted to hook my other rig back up(that's why I thought it may have been the cmos battery-i don't know why it didn't boot back up immediateley after putting the original one back into the ECS board). The biostar has had the above mentioned cpu's in it and there was no change in it's status. While the ECS is back up and running on the other hand. I trust what you are saying about the cmos battery, that would mean that it would not have an effect on the actual operation, there must be some other relationship between the two setups that I"m missing.
