Biostar BIOS update

I've got an iDEQ 200T, which i don't intend to equip with a floppy drive (yuck). Unfortunately, the BIOS update utility (which is accessed from within the BIOS) only supports updating from floppy... There is another flashing utility from Biostar, but they said that it was "only" to be used with "legacy" mobos which don't have the accessed-from-BIOS updating utility... So how do I update my BIOS? Anyone tried the DOS flashing utility on these iDEQs?

My 2.66GHz celeron is running ridiculously slow (sisoft sandra -- about as fast as a duron 700.................). I suspect maybe the BIOS is not playing nice with the processor. I've got the newest chipset drivers and stuff. Or is there a Windows Update i need?

Need help! Thx 🙂

First off, I'm not familiar with that particular IDEQ model.

Anyway, look for a utility called Winflash which, as the name implies, allows flashing under windows. But when your think about it, is that hard to just open the case and temporarily plug in a floppy?

About your speed problems, I could offer some guesses..

-Don't run the SmartFan utility. It actually slows down the computer.
-check onboard jumpers. Biostar made an error in my 210V manual but thankfully the correct settings were written on the motherboard

Thanks for the reply 🙂

Yeah SmartFan was being a real arse. I'm gonna try a newer version and see if it's better. The one I had was probably decades old. It definitely looked like it 😛

Cheers!
