BioShock Infinite is fantastic

Hey team,

I frequently see (And agree with) the dearth of single player AAA games compared to multiplayer games, but this is it. BioShock Infinite is easily the best story driven shooter I've played since Half Life 2. Its almost impossible to say too many good things about it. I keep thinking about the story after I've finished it. I've got a feeling it will be a lot like a Mel Brooks film; catch twice as many things the second time around, so I'm planning another play through. The attention to detail relating to the themes of the story is absolutely mind-boggling, check some threads out online. I know I did, and while I explored as much of the world as I could, I still missed plenty of the little things. I enjoyed BioShock quite a bit, but Infinite is better in every way.

If you like FPS, or story driven gameplay, you should make BioShock Infinite the next game you play.

I'll stop now before I bore you all to tears

It's a solid game. Personally I couldn't finish it because of repetitive gameplay.

I guess you play for the storytelling. I LOVE a good story game, but it's gotta have gameplay too.

I quite enjoyed its gameplay to be honest. They kept adding new mechanics up until the very end even, which is unusual for most shooters where you get gameplay the first 50% and then just story the last 50%

(Totally agree for GOTY 2013. Although Rome Total War II is coming out in September... :O)

I played about half of it. I was hoping it wouldnt be exactly like bioshock. bioshock was good initially, but became very formulaic and boring and I could not finish it. It has a similar formula to deadspace, which also was good initially then became stagnant. Well so far, infinite (to me) has been exactly like bioshock. Snoozefest~ Supposedly the ending is really good but meh.

Bioshock Infinite, Metro Last Light and Crysis 3 are the must play games this year if you like FPS games...

Supposedly there's going to be DLC where they introduce a new AI character alongside Elizabeth, so can't wait to hear more details..

I enjoyed it so much I started a thread to discuss the story. Warning: It's a straight up spoiler thread. Don't read unless you've already beaten the game.

I did find the combat to be somewhat simplistic, but a well told story with memorable characters goes a long way with me.

I find Crysis to be utterly boring and am convinced the "eye candy" is the only reason people still talk about it. So the people saying they find the gunplay in this boring makes me scratch my head, because all FPS are essentially the same when it comes to gameplay.

I got it with my AMD combo. Played something like 15 - 30 min and got bored.

I'll try it again when I get bored with the other stuff I have.

It's a great game when it doesn't crash. For some reason it has crashed my system continuously, and I mean hard crash to blue screen / memory dump. No other game in my collection does this on my windows 7 system.

It's only as repetitive as you decide to make it.

It was compelling. But...not as awe-inspiring as the first Bioshock IMO.

Bioshock Infinite should have been a PS4/Xbox1 title, using a new engine. It should not have been one of those titles arriving on the tail-end of a generation.

That's one of the things a lot of people criticize about the game. The scope and gameplay complexity was hampered by the feeble hardware of the 360 and PS3.

Did you guys see the preview demo?

The difference is quite astounding.. Bioshock Infinite is a great game, but it was clearly scaled back due to console limitations.

I want to re-visit the first Bioshock since I never finished it. Are there any visual mods out there for it ? Not saying the gfx aren't still good, but I know it did come out a few years ago...

The game itself was nothing amazing to me, but the story was good and I legitimately wanted to know how it ended. Some of the plot points were spelled out a mile away from the start, but I was curious how they'd get you there at the end.

This is my biggest issue with it, though I don't blame consoles for it. Something definitely changed in the design process though and I certainly didn't get the game I was hoping for from those videos. The game is good on its own right, but those videos implied so much more than I actually got. So for me the game currently sits at the top of my disappointment list this year. Granted I haven't played much, but still...

story wise bioshock is the game ender.

It has the best story out of all the games ive played this year.
Graphics is also beautiful if u like the cartoony type graphics.

I also really liked elizabeth... she was actually a very useful NPC.

Infact if i microsoft brought back the office assistant, id want elizabeth to be that, instead of a paper clip with a face.

I agree. The "good" ending in One was cool. Infinites ending was definitely thought provoking. There is another thread around recently with a lot of good conversation about the meaning and timeline.

To early to call it a definite GOTY, The Last of Us looks like a pretty awesome game and Naughty Dog is making it.
