bioshock hangs during loading

The loading goes fine at first, then the screens & quotes stop changing, and nothing happens. My harddrive isn't going, the dvd isnt spinning, nothing. After a little while of this, the harddrive starts back up again and loading finishes. Does this happen to anyone else?

1gig ram
