I have no idea about activation other than the fact that *originally* Bioshock did not have DRM but the second one activated on Steam so it did. I'm not sure how this works frankly. But these are not to be missed at this price. Why are we so concerned about DRM at this price just out of curiosity. We're not going to resell them anyway....

Nope... They only give you a cd key for bioshock 2 and doesn't activate in steam.

I emailed support about it since I really don't like keeping track of my digital games in separate locations since Steam it makes re-installs super easy. Perhaps I can get lucky and get a refund otherwise it looks like I threw away $4 the next time I reformat.

I'm not saying its not a good deal. It definitely is. But I have limited time to play games as is and generally try to avoid things with unnecessary hassles attached to them. I also try to avoid turding up my PC with what amounts to malware. My opinion is these things effectively add to the cost of the game. I know Bioshock had a ridiculous activation limit when it was released so I passed on it. I think the steam version has it removed but I'm not sure. 4 bucks is super cheap for sure but I have a lot of games already that I haven't played.

Gamefly is great. I put in a support ticket about the prior 4 games I purchased working with Steam and being upset that Bioshock 1&2 did not and they gave me a full refund. Between them and Amazon refunding Sim City, I think I found 2 great companies to do business with unlike EA Origin.

...why not just keep the key?

Seems like they're giving you NO drm and you're asking for it...couldn't you torrent the game iso and just use your legitimate key?
