I meant, as explained in my post...that although the story line is basically the same they are the opposite as in one was a male, the other a female...one wanted the best for the individual the other wanted the best for all...I mean, different in the fact that its not the exact same damn story line, but it follows the same build...eg, any Dan Brown book...

If you harvest the Little Sisters, does it free you from having to sit and protect them while they get Adam from dead splicers? I find that incredibly annoying.

Well screw all the naysayers. I love this game. 2nd best game evar, 1st being Bioshock. If you don't like exploring and getting into the environment, the games not for you.

I played the game as a savior too so I had to protect the little sisters as well. Personally, I had a lot of fun with all of it. My style of this play through mainly centered around the hypnotize plasmid, so I had a goon and a few hacked bots along with me and I liked sitting back and watching them attack the Big Sister.

But the next time I play through the game I'm not saving a damn soul!

I heard it was quite linear, and there was no going back once you got through parts.

That's true.

This game is a rental at best... it's just the same shit over and over and over again. Once you leave some areas you can't come back and 'exploring' consists of walking around and finding useless ammo for guns you're already filled to the brim with.

I find the health/damage system in this game to be its biggest downfall. You can take maybe 2 or 3 big hits and then you're either dead or needing to use a health pack and your damage to opponents is largely unbalanced. You're a fucking big daddy and you can't take a few hits in that giant metal suit from a woman wearing next to nothing.. but a giant frozen drill attack needs like 4 or 5 hits to kill her? Please.

Are you complaining about how the game conflicts with your misogynistic views or the weapon system? 😉

You do know the narrative includes an explination to why you're so weak, right?

I'm not that far yet, so that's at least a good thing to know.

Even still, just makes the game less fun to only take a few hits then die or re-up health.

Do you know if you get a '2' tonic why you can still use the '1' but with plasmids it just replaces it altogether? Is it worth using the 1 and 2 together or does the 2 just negate the need for it? Example, Drill Power 1 and Drill Power 2.

I found the narrative surprisingly more interesting as it unraveled through the voice recorders. Again, it's not as interesting as the first game in this regards, but it's still better than most video games.

I try not to make it a habit of telling people how to play their video games but I would recommend reserving judgement until you've completed the experience since you've already put your money down for it--at least that's what I try to do. <shrug>

I'm unsure why the plasmid system works the way it does. All I know that maxing out hypnotize is awesome. 😀

I decided to explore hypnotize on your recommendation and I found it quite useful for large battles indeed. I have not figured out a good way to utilize scout yet. It appears you can explore undetected but you can only use plasmids while in scout? Seems kind of useless but maybe not.

I also cannot for the life of me make the rivet gun useful at all. I've tried to max it out and it still seems pointless. They give you so much fucking ammo for it though so it seems like they want you to use it.

Wait until you get Hypnotize 3 and have two hacked bots with you--it's like a little army.

This reminds me of some of my shenanigans in the game: half way through the game I found myself purposefully setting off alarms just so I could hack two of the bots and fly them around with me--plus you can get a plasmid (or is it a tonic?) that allows you to heal them. It was almost like the necromancer in Diablo 2 where I had these things running around me protecting me. It was rad!

Whenever I see a bot shut down panel I'd hack something close by and purposefully send the bots, then shut them down, then make them mine.

Platypus - Head shots with the rivet gun do a lot of damage.

Thats a good plan. I'm surprised I didnt try that strat out, but I guess the one I adopted worked fairly well. Having the ability to heal the bots almost felt like cheating after stressing through the first one. 😛

Im about 5 hours into the game and recently i've been avoiding the big sisters like its my job. I dont think its a bad game, especially with the new enemies being a real PITA. My only annoyance is the bugs in the pc version, how can they get custom binded keys wrong? Ridiculous!

Why avoid the Big Sister? They give out a lot of Adam...

2K Games has announced the first of several downloadable content packs today for its PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 game, Bioshock 2. The Sinclair Solutions Test Pack doesn't add any new multiplayer maps but it does add some new features to allow players to customize and further their character's development in multiplayer. The pack includes:

  • Rank Increase to level 50 with Rank Rewards
  • New playable characters Louie McGraff and Oscar Calraca
  • 20 new trials*
  • A third weapon upgrade for each weapon
  • Five additional masks*
*Some items are only available after a player achieves a rank of 41 or higher.

The Sinclair Solutions Test Pack will be available in March for 400 MS Points ($5) for PCs via Games for Windows Live and Xbox 360 or $4.99 for the Playstation 3.

2K Games promises more DLC packs in the coming months that will "include more narrative, new tools and new challenges that extend the lore and fiction of the failed Utopia under the sea."

I'm rank 19 now online. Haven't played too much, maybe about 3.5 hours. I have all of the single player achievements, though. All that's left are the rank 20, 30, and 40 ones. I'm actually really digging the online stuff. It's pretty fun.

My favorite plasmid hands down was the insect one at level 3. Swarm?
It damages the enemy, keeps multiple enemies busy so you can take each one out at your leisure, and then once its dead, turns the dead enemy into a proximity mine. IMHO, it was the most useful of all plasmids.

just beat it...6.6hours, seemed a little short to me. Overall decent single player game, not amazing and not garbage in my opinion.

ugh.. yet another game you have to save often with, second time it's completely froze on me and I lost about an hour's worth of progress.

This game is seriously buggy, even more than Fallout 3.
