BIOS???

Does someone know what happens if the BIOS is not up-to date to support my processor....does the PC start at all or???

I have P5W PH delux mobo and x6800 and the mobo says it is ready for my processor but when i power up the fans come on and thats about it nothing comes up on the screen

Thanks

Check for the fan connector closest to the CPU.
If there's no fan connected, the motherboard will (for most boards) automatically shut down, so that the CPU won't overheat and burn itself out.

A few suggestions. Unplug the hard drives and optical drives. Use only a single DIMM of RAM in slot 1. Reseat the video card and make sure the card is seated firmly. Use the VGA side of you monitor instead of the DVI connector if possible.

Have any of the parts been used in a previous build? You need to start eliminating possible problems by swapping with parts that are known to work. A friend that could loan you some parts is a great place to start.
edit:spelling

everything is brand new apart from the DVD

and no it doesnt beep no noise at all all the fans are on you can see there is power to the graphix card and the sound card and thats about it....

replacing parts is a good idea but my other graphix card is an AGP so a no go and my other proc is AMD so no go there either, and if the problem is from the CPU then i really need to test it on another rig that suports it but i dont know anyone that has one so i think i will resort to the last possible solution, PC repair shop it is tomorrow(its really annoying, you spend all these money on a nice rig, you are looking forward to it and ..... it doesnt work, really pissed off - i wanna chuck it out of the window)

Thanks thought guys, and if someone has any other suggestions - feel free to let me know

what gets me is why does the DVD not get any power after i plug in the data cable....there must be a very clear reason for this, it really weird

Remove the RAM and boot up. If you get NO beeps your MB does not recognize there is NO RAM present. You have a bad MB.
