Well this month a new bios update came out for my motherboard, and I would like to update to it since I think it will solve a couple of my problems. I downloaded the update, but when I opened the Rar file, there is only 1 file in there, and it is a ROM file, I do not know what to do with it. How do I update my bios?

Did I possibly download the wrong file? If so could somebody please guide me to the correct link to the download. Thank you

I've updated my P6T Deluxe 4-5 times this way.

Extract the new bios to a Fat32 usb thumb drive, it's just the rom file with the bios #
Reboot and enter the EZ flash utiity in the bios
Locate the usb drive with the new bios on it.
{Note sometimes the drive letter of the usb drive does not always correspond to the drive letters assigned by windows.}
The bios will ask if you want to flash etc.

Reset cmos is recommended-reset your bios to previous settings

before you flash your bios, first do this:

make double, triple sure you've got yourself the right bios file, because if you screw this up your mobo will either be dead for good or at minimum will need a new cmos bios chip soldered into there.

go into bios and set all your bios settings to their default values.

physically unplug power cord from back of power supply & then press the power-n switch on front of your case a couple of times to help drain the capacitors.

pop out the button battery from the motherboard for awhile. "Awhile" is some undefined length of time that's a subject of argument on this forum, lots say just a few seconds, I say overnight. Overnight revived an apparently dead mobo for me once which made a believer outta me.

ALso move the "clear CMOS jumper to its "clear" position.

put it all back. Flash like pendragon explained above.
