Bios Slow

Not sure if this is the appropriate place for this topic... but I'm stumped. Recently, booting through the bios sequence and working in the bios setup utility have slowed down greatly. I have an ASUS P4S800D-E using the 1003002 beta bios (the problem started in the 1002 bios) - it's an AMI bios. I tried clearing the CMOS (if that's correct) which did no good.

I'm not having issues once I boot into WinXP - it's before the operating system that's slow.

The problem appeared after I added a second CD drive - I have nothing on my Primary controller and my DVD and CD drives on the Secondary controller. At the same time, I also plugged in the front panel to the board USB header. I've tried removing the second drive and removing/pulling the USB plug out but neither speed things up.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Besides the slower boot sequence, working in the bios utility is painfully slow...
