i have a soltexk8tpro-939 with a 3200 cpu and 1 gig of pc3200 memory. what is the best setup in bios where i will get the most out of my board? and do i need a fan on my northbridge chip since it already has a heatsink?

You don't really need to change too much in the BIOS, unless you are OCing. Change the AGP aperature size to half of your RAM size, so 512MB. Not too sure what else. YOu may want to set it to the optimal defaults.

If it came with a heatsink, you don't need to add a fan on the northbridge unless you're planning on OC'ing quite a bit.

I wouldn't do that. Optimal settings for most boards is mediocre at best.

Disable any ports you're not using and set your memory timings to as low as they can go. That's pretty much all you really need to change. Disable RAID or SATA if you're not using them.
