BIOS ROM Checksum error

when i turn on my computer it says this and stops.

if i take out the floppy , it gives high pitch squeaks
if i leave the floppy in w/o a disk, it makes a very wierd noise
if i leave a boot disk in, it boots

when i run the Western Digital disk, it says no western digital drives detected, even though i'm sure the drive works.

what do i do?

this is really annoying

i would appreciate whatever advice you have to offer

david

checksum errors aren't that bad...just go into ur bios and save your config..if that doesnt work, get a new cmos battery

i am going to flash it, because i can't even get into the bios at this point

lmk if you have any other ideas

thanks

make sure the cmos jumper isn't in the wrong position. booting with it in the clear position can cause all those things you are experiencing.
